This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

$6+ big corked bottle from Costco?! Thanks for the Edís note. I remember loving SPF45 years ago and Iím really happy itís back. And with a huge distribution. Did I mention this is some good shit? ARE YOU LISTENING? A totally american saison, in that you donít have to search around for the flavor; thatís it there, hitting you over the head. I can taste all the named spices(ginger, black pepper, etc) plus a lovely dry lactic yeasty note, a little malt sweetness and some lingering hop flavor. Three thumbs up. Oops, that was supposed to be a secret.

Pours opaque golden with generous white head. Aroma is big and bold citrus. Flavor is conservative for a saison but satisfying. Peppery lemonheads with a slight alcohol burn. Lasting finish on the back of the tongue. Nice!

Very nice saison that has lots of diffrent flavors too it. Although there are lots of spices its still a smooth beer that is probably balanced out by the yeast.

Draft at the brewery. Pours hazy amber with a fizzy white head. Tastes like dried fruits, white grapes, some ginger, spice, herbs. Light body and low/medium carbonation. Smells like herbs, white grapes, dried fruits, and doughy malt.

Guess it was from Iznogud & coís table. Huge thanks anyway! Poured a golden/orange body with a small white head that went away slowly. Sweet malty aroma, grainy, with some tart notes pushing through. Well carbonated body, "rotten" Belgian notes, slightly thin... but it grows on you. Light apple, malt, clean in general... Dunno, not a thriller, but definitely not bad.

Caged and corked bottle at Cleveland Heath. This pours a clear golden with a beautiful foamy off white head. It is a classic saison. Dry with those nice malts and yeast. Some pepper and just a little zest. The bottom of the bottle was full of sediment and that radically changed the beer. It became full of malts and smoother yeast based flavors. This was a great place to have this beer with the perfect glass ware. The beer was up to the environment.

This is my first beer from the lost abbey. I was expecting a lot more considering a lot of their offerings are so highly rated. Not great.

That bocktown monaca is a good beer tasting place, continuously rotating taps. Slightly hazy pale yellow. Smell is slight phenolic and yeasty. Fairly mild with a sudden bitter sharp almost bandaid thing. Barely any co2. A little difficult fer shure. Pointed astringent developing thang. Not as well balanced as was expected. Yes, mild at first then it goes a little outtah control.

Bottled 750ml. -from Svijet Piva Zagreb. Murky orange coloured, medium sized creamy white to off-white head, mild spicy nose. Lively carbonation. Sweet malty, yeasty, spicy and fruity with pretty strong hop bitterness. Pleasant spicy, mild alcoholic and bitter citrusy hoppy finish. Nice one.
