COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Rating #723, bottle from Toft Vin

Apperance is golden, slightly hazy and with a huge foamy head with good duration. Lacings. Aroma is citrus, spruce, apples, pears, hay and other indefineable overripe fruits. A hint of alcohol. Flavor has a lot of yeast and alcohol, hay, a tiny bit citrus and not much more. Maybe a bit of something cookie-like, and you really have to look hard to find the overripe fruits. Quite dissapointing when looking at the score, other ratings and the aroma. Finish is bitter / acrid and quite alcoholic. Warming alcohol burn, but not in a bad way. Soft and creamy palate. I feel this is a bit of waste of money, it’s not bad, but too expensive compared to what you get. However, it’s a beer off the list.

"hazy golden color with a cloudy white head. aroma is nice...a little barnyard, citrus & yeast. prickly feel that softens in the back...nice for the style. makes me gassy, though. flavor is intense for such a "light" beer. fruity with a hint of lemon and spices, a touch of funk, and some hops in the back with a dry yeasty finish. i’d go back for more if this were in 4 or 6 packs...probably won’t get a 750 too often, though."

Flaska från craftbeer. Ytterligare en fin saison från Lost Abbey. Stor kropp för stilen men annars relativt stiltypisk. Tydlig jästkaraktär, lätt jordig, örter, mynta, apelsinskal, ingefära och lite pepprig. Riktigt fin.

Bottle to stange glass Horse blanket, tangerine, triple sec, banana, salt, pine, and pepper. Pours a translucent yellowish amber with a HUGE frothy white head that reduces fairly quickly. Taste is lemon, biscuit, wheat, banana, and yeast. This is a good one.

Draft at Trinity. Pours gold with a thick white head. Glad to see LA beers are just as overcarbed on draft. Aroma is spice, funk, grass, must. Taste is dry, tart, sweet, musty, funk. Hints of bubblegum. Pretty complex, but easy drinking. Finishes dry and earthy.

12oz pour on tap at first draft in Chicago. Gold with big white head. Aroma is subtle. Very effervescent. Mild flavor. Some sweet some spice. Something bitter, like ginger. spicy body with that ginger bitterness. Alcohol fairly well hidden. Good beer but wanted more flavor.
