This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Bottle thanks to jao. Hazy gold pour with very abundant, rocky, lacy, white head. Very typical saison aroma, peppery, light grain notes, "dry", subtle spice notes, coriander. The beer is quite dry and clean on the palate, taste is grainy with a spicy, peppery finish. Well carbed and balanced palate, very good.

Bottle. Pours deep yellow, honey-colored beer with extensive white head with perfect retention. Aromas are rather subtle and include peaches, citrus fruits, and some phenolic notes. Taste is lightly bitter, a bit peppery, slightly sweet, fruity. Lively carbonated, medium bodied. Very good but rather well balanced and not very spicy saison.

Bottle. Very lively. Nose is is orange, bread, dough, pepper, a chalky alikilie note, the ginger and grains of paradise are just peaking through. Taste is surprisingly sweet, honey, floral hop notes, lots and lots of sweet orange, a little white chocolate, bread, leading to lots of ginger and emerging pepperiness in the finish. It’s a very nice saison, but it’s just a little too refined, not funky enough, a bit too sweet in the opening. Having heard so much of Lost Abbey I am a little disappointed at my first bottle.

Poured from bomber hazy golden with a 2 finger foamy white head. Aromas of yeast spice and citrus peel. Taste is dry grass citrus ginger and an overly peppery bitter peel finish. A bit more refinement and this would be awesome.

A hazed golden saison with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, loads of tropical fruits and banana esters, light citrus, oily mouth feel, very nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with orange pulp, light banana and cotton candy, alcohol warmth, very nice. On tap at San Marcos Taproom.

Bottiglia comprata da grand cru Rimini e bevuta a casa. Chiara con molta schiuma grossolana e persistente. Brettata al naso. In bocca conferma una acidità piuttosto marcata, secca, si sente una nota vinosa

From NOTES. A; A classic saison with earthy, citric, green grape, pare, apple, pepper and a touch of clove. Hints of sweetness. A: Hazy golden/orange with a sturdy, white head. T: Follows the nose with more citrus and grass with some ginger and yeast character. Not a ton of funky flavor. Overall, a little more subdued than the nose would lead you to believe. P: Medium body with a nice, crisp carbonation. O: Well done saison, Belgian yeast carries this beer, wish I got a bit more malt in the taste...

Mycket bra!
