COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Bottle thanks to jao. Hazy gold pour with very abundant, rocky, lacy, white head. Very typical saison aroma, peppery, light grain notes, "dry", subtle spice notes, coriander. The beer is quite dry and clean on the palate, taste is grainy with a spicy, peppery finish. Well carbed and balanced palate, very good.

750 ml bottle Pale golden with white foam. Hoppy grainy nose. Soft light body. Grains, yellow fruits, herbs, but very dominated by the hops. Long hoppy end.

2014 bottle to a tulip glass. Pours a hazy lemon yellow with a highly carbonated head that takes a while to recede into a creamy dollop. Aroma is slightly pungent with a vinegar-like sourness, bread, barnyard and sweet citrus. No vinegar in the taste. Bread, earthy herbal spiciness, and a kind if anise-like bitterness. A medium mouthfeel with a bit of a burn and high carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A hazy gold color with a big white head that settles to a dollop and leaves good lacing. Aroma has a hint of vinegar along with some cracker malt and spices, including pepper. Taste has none of the vinegar that was in the aroma. Apricots and pears along with the cracker malt and a big peppery and spicy finish. Finishes mostly dry. Medium bodied with med/high carbonation. Nice saison with big pepper and spices. Not my favorite but would drink again.

Bottle. Pours dark yellow with a finger thick creamy head. Aroma is tart with yeast and barnyard. Creamy body with soft carbonation. Flacour is tart with yeast and orange peel, and a sour horseblanket finish. Quite nice and true to style, but, dare I say, maybe just a little bit boring?

I'm not a saison fan. Yeast pepper flavor. Lemon pepper focus. Not my thing. No head. Average saison. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle (25oz): Hazy, medium to thick head and deep golden. Very clean, spice, fruit aromatics. Lovely lift. Citrus rind. Heaps of complexity. Dry, Slightly sour (clean) and moderate bitterness. More phenolic than bitter. Dense, elegant and very long. Layers of flavor. Balanced. Floral, citrus (orange), malt, yeast. Just builds on the palate. Pepper reminds me of Syrah. Lovely beer. Wonderful Saison. Probably the best or second best example to date.
