10/16/2014. On tap at the brewery. Light golden with a white head. West coast hoppy version of a Helles. Like it or not, it’s a very refreshing version of the traditional style.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
"WAY above average for the style. Light and refreshing, but full flavored. Grain and light grassy hops are the main players. with a pleasant underlying sweetness."

Pours a light orange-yellow with a one finger white head which fades to a little lacing. Aroma is of biscuit malts, ripe fruits, pils malt, grassy and piney hops, and some honey. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma. Has a medium-light body with a slightly creamy mouthfeel and a semi dry, semi bitter, medium finish. Overall, a tasty and refreshing helles lager.

Draft half pint at Falling Rock Tap House. Labeled as "Port Summer Helles" and the tap handle was a yellow flip flop. Pours a clear, light gold color with rising carbonation bubbles and a small white head that has trailing lace. The aroma is clean, with lemon, grass, pale malts, and sourdough bread. Flavor of grass, a slate of malts (pale, cereal, cracker), floral notes, and faint lemon. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a clean, dry, mildly bitter mouthfeel. Nice helles.
