3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle; Pour is murky gold with a frothy, two finger white head into this glass. It retains very well, with some spotting present. The nose is cut grasses, peppery spicing, raisin bread provides some sweetness, with a hint of citrus and peach present here. The flavor profile is bittering, spicy hops initial, sweet bread and citrus, moving to softer fruits , with pepper spicing and mild funk. It is bright, but this brew has issues, in that it’s somewhat muddled, more bittering than you’d like for the style, and lacking in the proper finish line I’d prefer. Interesting, though

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours turbid bright canary with minimal white head. Nose is funky, hopcitric, with dry floral and white pepper notes. Tastes of funky yeasty malt, hopcitrus, florals, white peppery spice, and a complex finish and mouthfeel. This is a great saison.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Small bottle from Julio’s. Pours out with a super head so I had to let it settle a while. Rated from the bottom of the bottle. A cloudy light yellow color with a frothy white head. Peppery-lemon aroma and flavors, with an earthy sweetness (from the raisins?). Very smooth drinking and otherwise enjoyable.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
375ml bottle. Pours a golden yellow with a big, thick, white rocky head. Aroma is earthy with lots of fleshy raisin notes. Flavor is oddly sweet, lots of raisin sweetness up front, some bready malts and brett notes. Quite sweet, actually. Medium bodied with a coating mouthfeel, somewhat flabby carbonation. Just too weirdly sweet for me.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is light to medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with light notes of gum, pepper, apricot, plastic.
Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately to heavily bitter.
Light to medium body, watery texture, fizzy/lively carbonation.
Well, meh...the aroma is nice enough, only a little of the trademark Lost Abbey plastic odor to mar things. Unfortunately, the appearance, balance, and mouthfeel are all disappointing...small vanishing head, fizzy, watery, light, stark and overly bitter...not pleasurable to gaze upon or drink.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy yellow orange with big, coarse white head. Settles quickly with some thin lace. Aroma is big yeast, fruity, banana, spicy, pear. Flavor is sweet, fruity, wheat, yeasty, with a mild spice, herbal finish. Flavor drops off a bit quickly though it intensifies as it warms. Moderate carbonation, light body, and mildly dry finish, perhaps a bit thin. Pretty, good though it could probably use a bit of aging.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. The cork flew across the room; very carbonated. The pour is light orange, hazy, with a thick cream head, very foamy. The aroma is very yeasty, lite sour notes. The taste is initially pretty mild, then the white pepper hits you. The finish is quite dry, overall not very full bodied.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Tropical fruit gum, armpit / skin / bacteria, cobwebs, dried orange gelatin candies, some spice / pepper character. When warmed and aerated some it has some off-notes, something like moth balls, dryer sheets and analgesic heat rub. Sweet, a bit syrupy, then falling thin. Carbonation is naturally soft and creamy. Pepper only becomes apparent in the finish where it kind of comes out of nowhere and sits around in the mud / dirt / silt / armpit stink that is brettanomyces. I acclimate well enough to drink close to a whole bottle. It’s bitter, sweet, a little savory, flavors and aromas are very bold and it’s carelessly muddy / yeast with a bacterial pungency, but hey, that’s what people go nuts for these days. See Prairie and Crooked Stave for more yeasty Bengay / armpit / Aussie / Kiwi-hopped "rustic" saisons.
