Bottle 375ml @ Christianssand Brygghus, Kristiansand
Pours clear golden with a huge white head. Aroma has notes of malt, yeast, pepper and grapes. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with a long very dry, white wine finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a cloudy and very dark gold color that kind of looks like apple cider with a massive three finger, pillowy foam head that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting cap. Looks over carbonated taking forever to finally settle. Large chunks of soapy lacing left behind.
Earthy, funky aroma with strong zesty spices, sweet vinous fruit and pale. Funky farmhouse yeast notes with musty brett, and prominent peppery spice. Hints of pepper, ginger and coriander along with bread, biscuit, apple, pear, raisin and citrus rind. Nice balance of farmhouse funk/yeast, ester-y light fruit, brett and spice.
On the lighter end of medium bodied with lots of bubbly carbonation. Too much so for my preference. Very earthy and musty with nice farmhouse/saison like flavors. I donít know if brett is added but it feels like it with a nice dry and earthy, Orval-like character. The pepper/spice flavor is pretty strong but not as prominent as in the nose. Zesty and peppery with hints of clove, ginger and coriander providing a nice compliment to the earthy funk. Bready yeast notes come in mid palate, giving the beer fullness and some needed balance. Still, I thought that there need a little more sweetness to counter the other flavors. The light fruit flavors found in the nose are minimal here and only come in on the back end. Just a touch of grape and apple cider-y flavor but the spices and funk dominate. Overall, this was a pretty decent beer but the carbonation level is too high for my liking and it comes off a bit one note. Okay but I wouldnít seek it out again.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
375mL bottle, early 2014, drunk 9/4/15.
Good clarity throughout the bronze-golden liquid. A touch of deeper amber peeks through. White head is initially large and foamy but rather steadily recedes to cover.
A lot more raisin in the nose than I would expect from a 17 month old bottle. Brett is rather funky, though, but fairly subtle, while saison yeast contributes a healthy amount of Belgian esters and light cellar/mustiness. Malt shows light caramel and is tempered by the peppery phenols (or maybe actual white pepper). No alcohol or flaws.
Tons of raisin in the flavor. Very odd, with just a tart, almost leathery brett presence further backed by peppery phenols and various earthy/musty notes. Itís almost got a sweet/sour thing going on between the malt and yeast character, while the texture is slick and watery with appropriate, ample carbonation (though somewhat relaxed with age). I think itís a bit oxidized, though the flavor is a bit blurred between oxidation and what may just be odd raisiny flavors. Interesting and drinkable, but Iím not in love with the raisin flavor. The sweet, rich, rather dullish flavor works greatly against the bright/crisp/dry elements.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
375 ml bottle purchased fifteen months ago at Brothers Provisions ($6.00). Pours a hazy golden amber hue with two fingers of fluffy white head having good retention. AROMA of dusty cardboard, honey malts and old bread, with a spicy and peppery element. FLAVOR of muted lemon, juicy honey, bready malts, a tangy hint of the brett, and some pepper toward the finish. Dry finish and light on the palate. Sounded good with the bretty, the New Zealand hops, and the raisins, but it is hard to find all of these things. Kind of a rare miss from Lost Abbey. Or did I just age it too long? But the label says it will "evolve" for many years to come...would like to try it fresh now. (258, 977)

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled February 2014
Excessively carbonated, I had to pour this over the sink so that the overflow from my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip doesnít make a mess. I end up wiht a five finger thick, pale tan colored head, that inclueds a finger above the rim of the glass. The beer is a pale honey color that shows a lightly hazed, straw / yellow hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of dried grasses, pale malt husks, and a solid pale grain character that leans towards crackers. Behind this is a light fruitiness that smells a touch of pears, with a bit of bright Sauvignon Blanc like character. Green tropical fruit like characters, as well as a touch of flint like firmness.
Effervescent, with a medium texture to the body, though the beer is not really very sweet. A bit of mustiness, as well as a yeasty phenolic character adds a bit of bite to the finish, along with a bitter hop note that is a touch herbal, but also has a spicy tropical fruit character as well as a peppery finish. Soft pale grain cracker notes add a roundness to the whole of the flavor. There is definitely a woody pepper character to the finish, and it lingers nicely. Fruit notes of pear, and a definitely present, white wine like grape fruitiness.
Not bad, perhaps a touch too much body.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to Brian. Bottle is at least a year and a half old. Slightly hazy color with still good carbonation level, aroma is straw, light barnyard, pale grain, yes indeed there is golden raisins. Interesting. Flavor also reflects the golden raisins with weak Belgian yeast through the center.
The mouthfeel is heavy with sweetness. The malt has for sure taken over with yeast nearly dead at this point. But with that said; it has held up really well. The raisins make this different.
