Commercial Description:
The history of the bible and religion is indeed the struggle of good vs. evil. Our Serpent’s Stout recognizes the evil of the dark side that we all struggle with. This is a massively thick and opaque beer that begs the saints to join the sinners in their path to a black existence.

Draught at Mountain Sun. Black with milk chocolate brown head. Aroma of bitter chocolate, berries, apples, roastedness, light coffee and alcohol fumes. Taste is burnt-roasted, slightly sweet then sharp boozy bitterness. Reminds me of Ten Fidy.

from crackedkettle.com - dark black colour with a little dark beige foam left; a very robust roasted coffeish aroma with notes of black cherries and chocolate; sweet and with a creamy mouthfeel, very thick and oily and with a fair bitterness, low carbonation and slightly salty, very tasty; long roasted coffeish finish with a quite apparent alcohol presence - powerful

Tasted 1/29/10. 750ml Cork and cage. Pitch with an opaque hue. Webbed khaki head. Aromas of toffee and chocolate with a touch raisins and cinnamon. Full bodied with an abundance of malt complexity. Lotta dark fruit, both fresh and dried. Dark berries and passion fruit. This mixed with the dark hearty roasted malts is wonderful. Sweet tart and tingling. Mild hops, but still produces a good astringency. Tasty and fruit driven. This is definitely of the sweet and tart side of things!

Opened a 75 cl for myself thinking it was around 6% abv. Oops. Ended up corking it and drinking over three days... and it got better each day. Pours impenetrably black with a very dark brown head. Visibly carbonated with some deep bubbles clinging to the glass. Nose of sweet vanilla, oak, dark sweet chocolate, Canadian whiskey, milky coffee. Enticing nose with nothing harsh about it. Flavor strikes the right balance with light sweetness and moderate bitterness, allowing that sinful aroma to take the lead. Finish is warming but not hot. Aftertaste like dark-chocolate-covered coffee beans. Dangerous. Tasty. Deep.

Bottle from Kris Wines, London. Black with a nice beige head. Vanilla fighting with chocolate- it is good vs good in my world. Some roast initially sets the balance right, but in the end we are dealing with a sweet mocha espresso vanilla latte beast. A bit on the sweet side, in other words. But it is a sweet temptation, for sure, dragging you into its dark world.

25 ounce bottle. Pours jet black with a compact brown head. Very opaque in appearance. Aroma is of sweet dark malt and dark fruits, prunes and the like. Also brown sugar, toffee, and coffee come around as it warms up. Flavor is malt-forward, the sweet malts taking control, allowing a stale coffee flavor and mild bitter hops to peek through now and then. The fruit is a lot more hidden in the flavor than in the aroma. The alcohol is mild for 11%. Ashy finish. Average mouthfeel, low carbonation, very neutral. Quite enjoyable, though I was expecting something a little more agressive/exciting/complex. Overall, very good.

Bottle shared by Dogbrick at my Super Awesome Ridiculous Stout Tasting on 1/23/10. Black pour with a thin brown head. Roasty malt aroma with licorice, dark fruit and coffee. Roasty coffee flavor with dark fruit and chocolate and a warming finish. As the beer warms the chocolate notes become more pronounced. Solid stuff.
