SuzyGreenberg (700), Seattle, Washington, USA May 13, 2008 750 ml bottle - big thanks to WeeHeavySD for the trade; pours motor oil thick and jet black with chocolate head; huge aromas and flavors of chocolate and coffee; just in your face thick; very sharp and hot at first sip, but the richness of the flavors begin to settle and vibrate in your mouth; wowzer; the hotness (give a few months for that) would be my only mild complaint on an otherwise delicious beer Ibrew2or3 (1448), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA May 12, 2008 Courtesy of Quake1028. Pours deep dark with thin brown head. In the aroma I get some roasted malts moving toward some burnt malts then fruity esters. The alcohol notes then join the fun near the end of the whiff. The taste is mildly roasty to burnt initially and backed by sweet maltiness to molasses sweetness. The burnt malt notes then build to midway. The moderate malt sweetness runs into the finish. I also get hints of a creamy mouth feel. Foolish_Mortal (911), San Diego, California, USA May 11, 2008 750mL bottle. Opaque black with a large rocky dark brown head. Heavy chocolate and dark alefruit aromas, tinges of smoky/roasty malt. Smokey, astringent roastiness up front. Caramel and semisweet chocolate flavors dominate. Slight toastiness in the finish, with bright alefruit and ashen character. Mouthfeel is heavy, somewhat chewy. kp (5800), Woodstock, Georgia, USA May 11, 2008 Date: 05/03/2008

Oakes (6529), Miami Beach, Canada May 11, 2008 Draught, Lost Abbey & bottle, Coronado Brewing Very dark brown. Big chocolate nose (more expressive from the bottle). Thick, sweet, with assertive but in step hop balance. Hints of wood and an alcoholic finish. Not all that roasty - I envision a foreign stout brewed to Imperial size.
