4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle from Binny’s (Orland Park, IL) shared with some friends. Pours a nice pitchblack opaque pour, a decent dark brown head that dies to a film and laces somewhat. Aromas are a nice chocolate, sweet and dark meet, a creamy sweetness meet a good dark roasty malts, coffee, light bitterness mixes with a good roasty feel, faint soy sauce. Initial is a thick syrupy body, a good roasty and chocolate appeal, some bitter and sweet chocolate mix with a deeper toasted roasted maltiness. Light bitterness, solid dose of burnt and bitter coffee. A thick beer on the palate, sticks well. Faint soy, good overall Imperial Stout

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Purchased in Dillon CO at Wines and Liquors. 750ML bottle. Tasted in inappropriate glassware for the style. Pours the deepest black .. amongst the deepest I’ve seen for the imperial imperial stout category. Head is rich, brownish colour, remains throughout the tasting. Aroma is expected - , sweetness, slight liquorice hints. Flavour is smooth, rich, on initial mouthfeel - everything coalesces and then the distinction begins.. alcohol, dark chocolate, malty robustness, very slight sweetness. Overall very nice. I think the current RB percentile is more of an alcohol rating than quality of product tho.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aromas increíbles, notas a café, chocolate, cacao y ligeramente especias.
Frutos secos, especias principalmente pimienta, maltas tostadas.
Definitivamente una excelente cerveza imperdible.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours pitch black with a one finger tan head with excellent lacing. Aroma is of roasted malts, dark fruits, licorice, coffee, anise, dark chocolate, sweet malts, molasses, and some light booze. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, milk and dark chocolate, licorice, anise, dark fruits, sweet caramel malts, molasses, some light burnt wood notes, some light spicy hops, and just the faintest booze as it warms. Has a full body with a very creamy, slightly oily mouth feel and a semi bitter, slightly warming, long lingering finish. Overall, a excellent imperial stout that hides its high abv very well and has nice mouth feel to it.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draft. Very strong and sweet coffee flavored beer. ABV 11 is a little too high to drink like a conventional beer. Need to sip it, like wine. Actually easier to drink with food than by itself. Nevertheless, clearly a very well made and flavorful beer.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pitch black color with nice foam layer, but the foam disappears rather quickly. The smell is coffee and chocolate heavy. The taste is smooth, lightly carbonated and has a lot of chocolate and also some spicy chili like hotness. Smooth aftertaste. Very nice beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black color with big-bubbled beige-brown head. Huge coffee and vanilla aroma, some bitter chocolate. Taste is a bit fruity, more coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla, a spicy hot kick towards the end. Incredibly rich. Carbonation is surprisingly present. Still a silky mouthfeel. The snake bites, yes. Also because of the carbonation, and that?s why I accept this carbonation as part of the concept ;) An excellent Imperial Stout which manages to still be special! Another Lost Abbey which lives up to its reputation (I haven?t had too many).
