Pitch black coloured body with a thin brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, anise, coffee and oatmeal. Full-bodied; Strong roasty flavours with a lot of anise spice and oatmeal noticeable with quite a bit of coffee, too. Aftertaste bittered from the great and potent from the malts. Overall, a very nice Imperial Stout, great to sample and even better given that it’s on draught! I sampled this pint on draught at Toronado in San Francisco, California on 28-June-2010.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 brystmar (458) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Oxidized nose. No surprise: this bottle is at least 2 years old. Smooth malts, roasty, liquid caramel, nothing to write home about. Think I prefer it fresh.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jrodooo5 (496) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - APR 17, 2013
Awesome pour with a giant tan head that fades into a good amount of lacing. The aroma draws you in with roasted/chocolate malts standing out. The flavor gets better and better as it warms. Sweetness on the nose and finishes up with some roasted bitterness. Exceptionally smooth at 11% and light and creamy on the palate. Outstanding brew w/ the exception of a weird slimy clot at the bottom of the bottle.
