4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle into snifter. Huge thanks to buckeyesox for this one - I believe itís about a year old.
Pours opaque black, with a one-finger very fluffy dark brown head, settling down into a denser, but thin, brown cap that doesnít want to go away. The head is fantastic for this beer.
Nose is equally fantastic - a nice mix of espresso, rich chocolate, and vivid dark fruits, with the emphasis on the dark fruits and cocoa. The nose is just so rich but still supremely balanced and integrated.
Starts off with just a huge, delicious espresso presence right off the bat, with a secondary note of rich cocoa, and lots of licorice and dark fruit swirling around in there. Thereís a smoky tobacco quality as well. Superb in every respect.
Mouthfeel is just as fantastic - lighter than expected, with a more active carbonation thatís still soft and light on the tongue. You just donít want to stop drinking this thing. Almost no alcohol presence, fantastic mouthfeel, delicious flavor - canít say enough about this beer. Hits on all cylinders.
As a note, the alcohol starts to warm you up about halfway through, and comes out a bit more as the beer hits room temperature, but never detracts from the flavors or body of the beer. Still an A+ effort.

Lots of roasty grain on the nose. Taste is more deep-roasted grain, some dark chocolate and a little bit of dark roasted coffee. Is quite bitter for a serious stout, which makes it very drinkable. Excellent.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Brunzies. Big nose on this, sweet with alcohol, chocolate, and lots of licorice (Sen-Sen). Dark black opaque with lacing tan head. Medium-heavy body with medium carbonation, alcohol warming. Starts sweet with Sen-Sen - a licorice bomb with chocolate and coffee. Big alcohol flavor and warming. Medium bitter finish with bit sweet licorice bitter after.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
almost black colour, surprisingly large and stable, though not that dense brown head; aroma of coffee, ash, woody and chocolate notes, some soy sauce and herbs; taste of heavy roasted coffee, herbal liqueur, dark chocolate - very darok one! well, not an overcomplicated imperial stout with an orgy of numerous aromas and extremely complex taste, but still a masterpiece!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at 83° in Carlsbad, CA.
Opaque, black-brown with a brown head and very good lacing.
Aroma of cocoa, roasted malt and roasted coffee.
Taste of cocoa, alcohol, roasted malt, molasses and roasted coffee.
Medium/full body and medium/low carbonization.
A huge imperial stout. What it lacks in complexity, it makes up for in intensity. The alcohol is not hidden at all.

The smell is alcohol (that little bit of burn), cocoa, the look is a heavy brown head and a dark as hell color, the color is incredible! The taste is sweet, bitter chocolate and a very high note of spicy vanilla that lingers well after the swallow. This isnít barrel aged, but it really has a rum or bourbon feel to it. Very strong, heavy beer that pairs well with solid meat (steak or ribs).
