3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark coffee color with a small tan head. Smells boozy and chocolatey with notes of licorice and hops. Very aggressively attacks your tastebuds with hops, booze, and dark-bitter malts. Very intense sipper. Good.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This bottle aged a year, enabling the vanilla to become more pronounced among the flavors of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts. The beer pours thick, like oil, forming a deep tan head. Taste has the chocolate and malts being balanced by vanilla and the alcohol. Aging yields a much smoother feel to an already smooth beer. The finish comes back to a sweet chocolate. Overall, a wonderfully delicious and contemplative brew.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This bottle is 5 years old. Pours stout black with a medium sized cocoa head that shrinks to a foamy top. Solid lacing. Complex without barrel aging. Bright, sweet nose of vanilla, pepper, smoke, berry, and roasted malt. Surprisingly vibrant after several years in the cellar. Medium sweet, medium roasty bitter attack. Full body, decent carbonation, sticky texture and a long roasted, light bitter, earthy finish. Excellent Imperial Stout. Like a fine Cabernet, only one-third the price. Wish I was sitting on a case.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sweet cocoa and coffee aroma with a hint of licorice. Pours deep brown with a tan head and a little bit of yeast collecting at the bottom. Love the flavor, just the right mixture of sweet and bitter.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. 2012 I believe.
A: Pitch black, mocha head, legs.
N: Cocoa, coffee, soy, molasses, some big smoke and char, touch of vanilla, peppercorn, and earth. Lots of intermingled and complementary flavors.
T: Big bitterness and big sweetness. Tremendous balance.
M: Oily, heavy body. A tickle of carbonation. Alcohol is dangerously hidden.
O: Fantastic stout. Very complex and absolutely delicious. I have had many bottles and will have many more.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by tom10101, 3 years old and kept in a proper cellar. Pours a really dark brown with a medium milk chocolate head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of coconut, bourbon, caramel and roasted malt. Taste is of ash, burnt cereals and coconut. I wish I could understand why, but sometimes I hate ash in beer but this time it worked well enough. Body was medium-full and carbonation low to medium. Overall a really good, rich and tasty RIS.
