Past its prime.

On tap at S&B. This ale is drinking fantastic now. Clear reddish brown pour with a small white head. Vinegar and sour aromas. Sour cherries, vinegar, oak, a bit of caramel malt. It actually taste very much like a sour bruin. Simply delicious......

Bottle @ S&B. Dark brown pour, small head. Aroma is awesome! A blend of tobacco, chrerries, chocolate, oak barrel, some caramel, a bit of brett presence, slightly lactic. Taste is fairly brett forward, barnyard, some lactic sourness, sour cherries, not much sweetness aside from a hint of caramel and cherry. Slightly thin carbonation and body. But a good fucken beer anywhore.

Bottle:   Deep muddy brown, sediment settles, moderate ligth beige head, frothy, few tags of lacing.   Oaken nose, bretty, cherry pits and sweet vinegar round it out.   Tart on the tongue, no, make that sour.   A little acidic, otherwise sweet vinegar, unripened dark cherries, and oak.   Tastes pretty damn good!   Backside isn’t as sour, fairly tart tho, lingers with a sweet vinegar asepct.   Well put together, held up very well over the years.   Not terribly dry, tends to coat the tongue fairly well.   Very smooth.   This is one tasty treat!   Recommended!

Bottle split with pat. Pours a deep coffee brownbody with thin off white carbonated lacing. Aroma is pretty interesting - sour fruit and chestnuts first with some cinnamon and brown sugar in the background. Mouthfeel is tart with light fruit, nuts, cinnamon, and oak.

Bottle. 12.7 oz. Split with James for Mount Eerie Sout Fest 2011. Pours a deep, muddy maroon amber with a thin, wispy, tightly bubbled kahki head. Aroma of dark cherries, musty oak, balsamic vinegar, funky yeast and soft earthiness, and some sublte chocolate notes in the back. The mouthfeel is velvety and and loose, full of chestnut, cherry, and oaky flavors and lovely sourness rounds out the finish. Complex and nuanced, this sour is a tad like a smoother, less tart, slightly easier-going Cuvee de Tomme. The chestnut flavors, along with the musty, earthy notes in the finish, lend a hand in bringing together this tremendous sour ale.

I cracked at home this after having a few IPAs at work (90 minute, 21A Brew Free or Die and a Racer 5). I was expecting sour but this made me say "hooo this is SOUR". So it’s cleansing my palate of the IPAs in a big way. There’s a lot going on in this ale. Let me take a breath and lick my teeth again. Ok - so there’s a lot going on in this ale. Lots of dark, little fruits (cherries, currents, cranberries) with a strong backing of oak and a little caramel. Very dry, very tasty. If you’re a fan of sours, this will definitely make your day.
