Body is chestnut-black, and garnet-black at the very edges. head was thin and foamy, a dark burnt sienna, short and quick. Aroma is like a barley wine, - vinuous sweet sherry, oak, light vanilla, and bourbon. also prune aroma, very sweet. Flavor is a strong and sweet syrupy malt, but not at all sticky. lively carbonation and a bourbony sweet sherry flavor that builds into a slow burn. a little charred oakyness and faintly smoky. some prune and bitter hoppyness in the finish. spicy aftertaste. ASA or barley wine? definitely from the west coast but the style is debatable.

I had this last night at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse. It is everything a barrel aged barleyment should be. Big and cerealy with perfectly balancing hops bitterness, a velvety body, warming alcohol, and a moderate bourbon character with moderate to medium oak.

Draft. Pour is deep brown to black with a minimal offwhite head. Aroma of raisins, dried figs, booze, vanilla. Taste is lightly oxidized with papery flavors. Rich chocolate and a lightly tart Belgian character. Pretty damn good.

Bottle shared, thanks Jon. An explosion of flavors, toffee, cocoa, dried fruit, coconut, almond, oak, whiskey, long sweet warming finish. Great stuff, devilicious and complex, awesomeness in a bottle.

Poured into a taster showing an opaque dark brown center and light coffee brown rims with no head. The nose shows moderately intense notes of caramel and bourbon. The palate is lightly carbonated and medium bodied. A very high alcohol spiciness throughout. Caramel malt flavor throughout with a light vanilla background and sweetness.

Bottle shared. Thanks Jon! Huge bourbon nose with loads of chocolate. Some wheat and dark fruit tones come out as it warms up. Slightly sweet on the palate, but not cloying. More bourbon as it warms up with some vanilla, coconut, oak and grains. This is almost like an imperial stout rather than a barley wine. Huge flavors that get more complex as it warms. Finishes slightly sweet and warming with more of the same flavors standing out. Fantastic.

Cloudy brown color. Sourish nose wish tons of bourbon oak dark fruit. Decent sour dark fruit and bourbon character. Dark fruits and oak just longer and lingers. Good stuff

A nice bourbon barreled beer, but not the most interesting, bourbon sort of overwhelms. Pours a deep black with a tan head. Smells of bourbon and marshmallow. Taste is mostly bourbon, with a bit of marshmallow, vanilla and caramel, and some raisin in the finish. A bit of a strange sweet aftertaste. Had on tap at Billcos.

Bottle to a snifter. Opaque mahogany with thin mocha head. Sweet bourbon, vanilla, salted caramel and cacao... Layers of flavor, dark dried fruit, figs, smooth, balanced boozy finish... What an outstanding beer!!!

On tap @ Chuck’s CD. Pours murky reddish brown with thin oily mocha head. Aroma is roasty boozy dark caramel malt; fig, raisin, and port come through. Big sweet oaky bourbon notes on the back dominate. Taste is similar - caramel, vanilla, oak, leather, port, hazelnut all appear. Bourbon is heavy here as well, though not as dominant as the nose. Really works well with all the depth here and makes an outstanding beer even better. Some alcohol heat but so much flavor it doesn’t really detract. Awesome beer.
