4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ibrew2or3 (5823) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - NOV 16, 2008Pours deep murky brown with tan head. The aroma has malts mixing with oak and mild sweet bourbon and mild sweet and dark roasted malts as well as dark fruity esters nearing the end of the draw. The taste comes across first with sweet malt and sweet bourbon then aged oak and sweet vanilla. The vanilla note really seems to take over toward midway. Very nice offering with rich creamy goodness washing across my palate depositing bourbon, vanilla, oak and mild dark fruitiness into the finish.

Extremely malty with a strong caramel, vanilla, bourbon, oak, and burnt sugar flavors. Has only a hint of hops which help balance out the palate. Very delicious.

Bottle thanks to Robloc. Pours a darker brown with a ring of beige foam around the perimeter of the glass. Aroma is heavy oak and booze with lots of vanilla and dark fruits. Taste is very heavy on the oak and booze. Some leather and raisins come through. Nice.

Bottle through trade, pours a brown color with red hues and practically zero head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, caramel and some nice barrel notes, outstanding aroma. Taste is very similar with a bourbon bite that finishes with a bit of heat.

Poured a dark opaque brown. Nose is boozy , sherry port wine. Mouthful has the consistency of port wine. Almost no carbonation flavor is rich and intense. A blast of the barrel a hint of fizz. A touch sweet with dark fruit. The barrel carries a lot of the flavor but it’s backed up by a full bodied beer. More than worth a try. Almost sublime.

Near black pour, very little head. Nose is decadent - bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, toffee. Crazy complex. Tons of barrel aged flavor - vanilla, wood, bourbon. Very nice.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 kraddel (919) - deurne, BELGIUM - MAY 21, 2013
2012 version . Purchased at geers , than ’ aged ’ myself a few months .
Been waitimg to open this one for a long time
Pour is pretty disapointing . Clear , not even that dark brown . in the glass its dark brown , not nearly comparable to black .. Imperial stout ????
Foam is almost non- existent , a very tini white ring ..
Bourbon smell , but no overkill
Soft carbo . Sweet , buttery , bourbon , yet again , not TOO much . Its enjoyable , but as most of the bourbon ba, i almost taste nothing else than bourbon ... I miss beertaste and complexity ..
Edit ; its a barley wine . Makes a lot more sence ! Dont know why i thought this was on ratebeer as an impy ...

May 19, 2013 - 2010 bottle from binnys. Dark brown pour with limited head and spotty lacing. Aroma was bourbon, wood, caramel and vanilla. Taste was caramel, vanilla, wood and an mild alcohol burn in the finish. I really wanted to like this more than I did. Not quite sure I agree this should be classified as a barley wine.

Bottle, 2012. Pours cloudy dark brown, small tan head dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is bourbon, toffee, caramel, dried fruits. Flavor is the same, medium sweet, light bitter, quite hot. Full bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Hot bourbon finish. No tartness (yay), but almost un carbonated. Why is that so hard?
