Commercial Description:
Down in Kentucky and across the pond in Scotland, distillers who age their whiskeys for many years refer to the evaporation of the spirits from their barrels as “The Angel’s Share.” We couldn’t agree more. Our Angel’s Share is a barrel aged burgundy colored ale infused with copious amounts of dark caramel malt to emphasize the vanilla and oak flavors found in freshly emptied brandy barrels. Each batch spends no less than 6 months aging in the oak. The beer is available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at inspired locations.

2008 ABV: 12.5%, gold lettering, 750ml and 375ml, with 2008 on label
2007 ABV: 11.5%, gold lettering, 750ml only
2006 ABV: 10.5%, black lettering, 750ml only

Thanks Gumby, I still hate the sea gull. Poured a cola brown. Aroma is a melange of sweetness and richness. Vanilla, oak, brown sugar, malt, malt and more malt. The flavor is deep and rich, malt dominant, with the slightest hint of booziness. Life is good.

thanks to cmubeerman for this monster. deep mahogany color bordering on opacity. minimal head. strong apple/pear rind aroma with plenty of alcohol. lots of wood, lots of honey. very sweet aroma. flavor is super alcoholic, possibly too much so. sweet and fruity, a fantastic barleywine. a bit vinegary., lots of malt and dried fruit. pretty full bodied and chewy. goes down easy. a stellar beer with tremendous balance.... rerate: a lot less hot this time. ... every time i put this glass down i’m surprised again by how awesome it is. uprating.

Deep burgundy brown pour with little to no head. Notes of brandy and wood in the nose on a sweet, toasted malt wave. Sweet malt flavor with touches of dark, dried fruit and a sharp alcohol bite. Smooth on the palate with a lingering sweetness. Wonderful.

Not really what I expected out of this. Thanks to Dirty_Martini for this. Shared w/imadeadguy and was not as impressed as him. Smelled like wood and tasted really warm going down. Very warming with an overpowering alcohol taste. Got few hints of vanilla and dark fruit. Will try again to re-rate it.

Dark black body with a small creamy light brown head. Huge rum soaked fruit, raisins, caramel and molassas. Sweet fruit flavor, light raisins, caramel. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation and a very smooth creamy sweet finish.

750, corked and baled. Thanks, after4ever and IBrew2or3! Pours a hazy very dark brown with an off-white head. Boozy oak and sweet toffee aroma. Toffee, caramel and vanilla taste. Semi-sweet oak finish. Maybe it was because I was expecting to be blown away by this beer that I wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong, this is nice stuff. But earth-shattering? No.
