Bottle. [ Courtesy of drewbeerme ] Dark brown / black color with a average frothy good lacing mostly lasting beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, rasin, plum, port, tawny, soy sauce, licorice, burnt sugar, bourbon, oak, chocolate. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration. Body is full, texture is oily, syrupy, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. Very very nice ;o)) Hopefully I will be lucky enough some day to have another bottle of this fine beer.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a slight haze under a collapsing brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of whiskey, chocolate, and vanilla - nice. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of vanilla, chocolate, and wood, as well as light notes of the alcohol. Nice one.

(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a dark, opaque brown with a beige head. Sweet and very complex bourbon aroma. Quite full-bodied with sweet caramel notes - distinctly sweet notes - lots of vanilla and sweet caramel. Lovely. 291206

From tap Nørrebro Bryghus. Pours dark Brown, unclear and with a fully gone, initially tan head. Dense roasted malt, dark chocolate and brandy barreled notes. Subdued sweet raisin note. Sweet and raisin flavoured. Dense malty and roasted caramel malt. Sweet and warming finish. Smooth and lovely. Lasting warming and fruity impression.

Bottled. Deep ambery colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some nice wooden and raisiny notes as well as vanilla and fruits. Some slight alcoholic sweetness too. Flavour is very much the same, and in a a perfect balance. As it got a bit warmer also licorice and some slight alcoholic burning notes came through.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2007 Bottled, thanks cquiroga! Rating #10000 at OMH. Dark brown, creamy beige head. Lovely aroma of mature caramel, blackberries and vanilla. Fruity and vastly malty. Full bodied, yet so soft and gentle. Notes of coffee and almost balsamic oak character. Very complex and extremely well balanced. Finishes with surprisingly low bitterness. Perfection in near every aspect. The best barley wine ever! What a superb beer to chose for an important milestone!

UPDATED: APR 29, 2009 Bottle. Black coloured with a small off white head. Sweet and light roasted aroma of vanilla, rye bread and dried fruits with notes of sherry and alcohol. Sweet and light roasted flavour of vanilla, dried fruits, sherry, oak and alcohol. Warming alcoholic finish.

It pours a dark brown color, viscous and totally flat. The aroma is an interesting blend of caramel, vanilla, woody sourness, some alcohol. Good body strength, but the mouthfeel is quite spoiled by a strong alcohol presence (maybe the brandy barrel is not a good choice); caramel flavor, sweet, vinous, woody, with a touch of vanilla. In the final, the alcohol trace, although not strong, is disturbing.
Something is appreciated (the vinous character in a Barley Wine), something is less appreciated (the alcohol).

Body: body is a bit thin
Flavor: rich dark caramel and chocolate flavor, lots of brandy character, a bit hot, brandy and candy caramel sweetness, touch of bitter dark chocolate, oaky bitterness starts soft and grows towards a bitter finish
Overall: needs at least a year or two of age for the various flavors to meld

Aroma: sweet brandy aroma with sweet caramel and chocolate

Overall: the lack of carbonation brings out the hot alcohol

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2010 [July 23, 2010] Hazy mahogany with a medium sized beige head. Sweet nose with roasted malt, brandy, caramel, overripe plums, figs, dates and chocolate. Sweet flavour with hard roasted malt, brandy, caramel, overripe plums, figs, dates, chocolate, wood and vanilla. finished sweet. Nice. Dark brown with beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt and caramel notes. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel, flavour has signs of infection though hoppy and malty with alcohol notes. Finished sourish.
