Commercial Description:
Down in Kentucky and across the pond in Scotland, distillers who age their whiskeys for many years refer to the evaporation of the spirits from their barrels as “The Angel’s Share.” We couldn’t agree more. Our Angel's Share is a barrel aged burgundy colored ale infused with copious amounts of dark caramel malt to emphasize the vanilla and oak flavors found in freshly emptied brandy barrels. Each batch spends no less than 6 months aging in the oak. The beer is available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at inspired locations.

Bottled, special thanks to JohnC. Poured a lovely shade of damn near black with a nice cap of deep beige head. Aroma picked up very deep, roasted caramel and milder chocolates with intricate accents from the brandy barrel... vanilla, vinous notes, and toasted oak are very well-intertwined... deep and seductive.. damn near a 10.

Flavor was equally magnificent.. superb caramelization and some semi-sweet chocolate at the core.. layers of sweet vanilla beans and deep vinous notes slightly over that.. sweet toasted oak and warm alcohol pick up through the finish... just a lovely balance to it, and the warmth is presented without being scathing. Heavy-bodied on the palate and remarkably well-balanced.. drier on the tail-end. Well-done! Thanks John!

Bottled. Hazy redbrown color, short head. Aroma of raisin, port wine, liquor, very fruity, madeira. Porty taste, alcoholic, raisin, very full. Strong, but balanced. Not an easy drinker, but still I would love to drink this more.

Bottle @ DTS. Raisinny porto notes, hint of armagnac in the aroma. Dark chocolate and oak in the flavor. Slightly alcoholic, vinous, brandy, raisin, Great complexity, exceptionally balanced. A great sipping beer. Thanks jbrus, for sharing.

Incredibly good and glad I was able to try a bottle (thanks Walt). Pours a dark brown with almost no head. Nice aroma of some dark fruit. Amazingly smooth, and incredible at hiding the 11.5% ABV. Absolutely delicious. Although the bourbon is ranked slightly lower, I think I liked it a little more.

Dutch tasting session Bunnik. Bottled. Opaque, brown head. Aroma of malts, port, liquorice, really nice. Very complex flavour, again the malts, vanilla, port and who knows what other stuff. This almost does not taste like a beer anymore. I’m stunned, this absolutely fan-tas-tic. I’d love get my my hands on more of this, but it’s probably impossible to get around here. Thanks for sharing jbrus.

Dark nut brown color, small tan head. Aroma of vanilla, fruits and whiskey. Whiskey, vanilla, licorice ... some CO2 in the finish. Very liquerish and warming. Lovely, balanced, delicious beer. Beer for slow drinking.
