4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A very good beer but a bit thinner in the mouthfeel than I expected and maybe a little heavy on the bourbon. But overall very solid.

pours deep opaque amber, not quite black, with a thin tan head. nose of biscuit, caramel, toffee, and bourbon. taste follows and the bourbon accentuates rather than overwhelms. body is solid. many thanks to tleaver33 for the bottle.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 24, 2013 375 ml Bottle (2008 version) at Local Option, Chicago. Poured a dark murky brown with a round off white head and a super rich consistency. The aroma is strong raisin, red berry fruit, malt and alcohol. The flavour is strong bitter with a rich raisin fruit malt alcohol weak liqourice oaky palate. A super rich consistency beer. The alcohol is well controlled for the ABV which makes it a great.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served in a small snifter.
Feel: excellent except for some high ABV harshness; near full body; very good, ir relatively high, carbonation.
Taste: Sweet up front; Rich and complex; dark roasted malts dominate the bitter/sweet aftertaste.
O: Outstanding. Improved with warming and more warming.

Ooh, 1000th rating (of the beer, not mine). Even better because it was free -- just too much for some girls at the bar who bailed for something lighter. The most obviously barrel aged beer I’ve had, which is saying something. Huge caramel, vanilla and oak over dark malty goodness.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Complex aroma of dried fruits, dates, prunes, cigar box etc. Similarly complex taste that keep developing in the mouth. Port and fine sherry. Perhaps with a hint of alcohol crudeness.

Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff sep-13, etter det offisielle programmet ("fra gribbebordet": en lekkerbisken for de som er begeistret for store mengder karamell og vanillje. Flytende godteri, og sånn sett en passende avslutning på kvelden. Må prøves i mer objektiv tilstand.
