undsioux7 (454), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Apr 5, 2008 Pours a dark dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel, dried fruit, sugar, alcohol. Nice flavor, but the alcohol is a little too much. copyright grimreeser
gnoff (2522), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 8, 2008 (Bottle at GT - RBESG 2008) June 29, 2008 Dark brown color, tan head. Sweet, chocolate and oak scent. Sweet, raissin taste. Warming alcohol. Medium to full mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Doggythedog (791), Split, Croatia Jul 7, 2008 RBESG08 grand tasting. Poured a dark red brown body with a small tan head. Pungent yoghurty malty nose, notes of smoke and whiskey. Complex malty taste. Coffee, yoghurt, alcohol (whiskey?). Still, not the best beer I’ve ever had. trevor211 (69), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 6, 2008 4 oz taste at the Seattle IBF. Something special, for sure. Pours a deep, dark cola brown with a thick, dense head. First impression on the aroma was roasty sweet malts, with notes of brandy, oak, deep malts and just enough hops to counter the depth of the brew. Taste is like a fine blend of a Belgian quad / brown ale (think SB Abt. 12 meets Nostradamus), with prominent notes of chocolate, brandy, dark fruits (figs, dates), a bit of smoke (perhaps going as far as coffee), caramel and cloves. More than anything, I noticed how my mouth kept salivating with each sip - it coated thoroughly and left me wanting more. Heavily carbonated, and a decent alcohol burn (our bottle was labeled 12.5%). By far the best Lost Abbey effort I’ve tasted, and I feel lucky to have been able to try it. Wonderful stuff. ekstedt (1710), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 6, 2008 Sampled at the RSBEG08 grand tasting. Murky brown with medium beige head. Very complex malt aroma with vanilla and coconut, dark fruits, and some warming alcohol. Medium bodied and very smooth, almost chewy. Very well balanced. A truly great beer. DragonStout (1102), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 25, 2008 Thanx Mgumby for sharing this.Pours a black color with a small dissipating head.
