4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark reddish brown, no head, none, looked like port in the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, raisons, vanilla, and a slight mustiness I presume from the oak. Complex, raisons, fig, dates, vanilla, caramel, molasses, wood. Alcohol hidden very well, excellent beer, but a tad too sweet for my liking, I wonder if some age in the bottle would dry it a touch.

Fresh on tap. Big vanilla aroma carries through to the taste; needed to be reminded that this was brandy barrel aged.

Sunk my bunt with a stink. Shared with Crompt. This was the stand out beer of the evening. We had a ton of great beers too. This thing blew my mind. If you can bring more beers like this, you will slowly start being my favorite brother. At least you’ll be earning brownie points.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Easily one of the top 5 barley wines I’ve ever had. Sweet, boozy and smooth just like I was hoping. Wish I bought more than one bottle and hope I can get my hands on another one day.

1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
375 ml bottle thanks to my Secret Santa, jckp64. Pours burgundy with no head. Aroma is just ok, something seems off about it. Sour cherry, paper, candy and musty oak. Taste is awful. Overpowering sweet and sour fruit, medicine, and vomit. This has to be an infected bottle. No pop from the cork, no head, and it’s undrinkable. I’ll re-rate if I get a better bottle later.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a hazy brown with a small tan head. Smells of oak, vanilla, bourbon, candied malt. Taste is sweet, moderately bitter, strong vanilla oak, some burn present - toffee, brown sugar.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown with no head. Strong bourbon and liquor aromas. No carbonation, sticky, loads of molasses and a strong alcoholic whisky presence is felt troughout the palate. Finishes very sweet, alcoholic with some dark fruits. Intense, sticky and barely drinkable. Must make exquisite sauce tough...

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle share thanks to beechner224. Pours a deep dark mahogany color with light tan head. Big boozy, barrel, caramel, dark fruity, with more boozy bourbon aroma. A lot of caramel, toffee, and bourbon in the flavor. Tastes pretty high boost.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rated on 3-17-2010 (Corked and caged bottle) This beer pours a large very fizzy tan head that mostly diminishes, opaque dark brown body, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, chocolate, oak, sweet, dark fruits, vanilla, and alcohol. The taste is sweet, caramel malt, chocolate, dark fruits, alcohol, and has a semi-dry finish. The palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, WOW what a great tasting beer to drink and rate! This is a sipping beer at 12% ABV and not a beer to be taken lightly. It has a sensational flavor, worth trying and a beer I would drink again.
