GABF 2007. A pale golden-brown beer with a tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of fruit and brettanomyces. The flavor is swweet malty with notes of over ripe fruits, wood, cherries, and other berries, as well as lighter notes of brettanomyces, leading to a dry acidic and woody finish. I dig the flavor.

Bottle at Redstone Meadery. Clear orange brown coloured with a small off white head. Spicy aroma of berries, honey and fruits. Fruity and light acidic flavour of berries and spices with notes of wood. Tart finish. Very dry.

Burgundy colour with hints of brown. Gorgeous, gorgeous aroma - deeply vinous and complex with blackcurrant, pinot noir, oak and subtle florals. Full mouthfeel shows evidence of meady oiliness. Winelike and oaky, with woody accents, crazy rich fruitiness and a big depth of malty tang. Long, dry finish. You’ve got to be kidding me.

(Draught) Pours a cloudy dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of funky brett, barrel, raisins, and chocolate. Flavor of prunes, chocolate, caramel, brett, and oak.

Bottle at Redstone Meadery - Thanks. Clear dark brown - white head. Raspberries, burned, light sourness, black berries, roasted, dark bread, high dryness, light hoppy, light spicy, light honey, spicy nose, no residual sugar. Fun/good combination.

Bottle… Pours murky and brown with a small, fizzy, mushroom-colored head. Decent retention. Very rooty, wacky aroma – sassafras, sarsaparilla, licorice root, possibly subtle English lavender and a rumor of caraway. Full-bodied with chewy yeast particles and soft carbonation. The tangy flavor is a slightly dysfunctional marriage of licorice root, mysterious herbs and yeasty bitterness. The finish is simply a slow fade of all the aspects mentioned above. Certainly an interesting blend, but also a bit of a letdown when compared to all the other Veritas mergers. Kudos to Dstructo for sharing this bottle! I’m down to only one beer in the Veritas series that I have been unable to procure. Anyone have an extra Veritas 005? I didn’t think so.

On tap at the 2008 Strong Ale Festival. Poured a medium to deeper brown color -reddish tinted- with a small sized off white head. Aromas of wood, chocolate, earthy, vinous, and some dark fruitiness. Tastes of raspberries, dark fruits, raisins, plums, and lighter wood. This one was definitely on the sweet side with a very light tart finish.

On tap at the 2007 GABF: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a well-lacing light tan head. Aroma has some light caramel malty sweetness and earthy funkiness. Body starts fairly full and has a light caramel maltiness, but also has some soapiness and bitter bite along with a touch of cherries and acetone. Interesting and fairly complex, but pales in comparison to the Cable Car I tried just before.

Draught (?!!) No head over deep-red, Cola-like colour. Absolutely stunning nose of wine, cherries, grapes, fresh garden herbs. Cherries, sherry, Madeira, game sauce; vinous as no other; yet delicate and complex as none. Somehow as enhanced with Ve-Tsin. Slick, viscous, alcoholburn, and -warming. Perfect balance sweet-sour (and even salty as with the Ve-Tsin?). My new Tomme Arthur favourite. Stunning. This is, BTW, THE beer for game with cranberries. Forget about wine.
