3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 CaptainCougar (6853) - Columbia, USA - NOV 27, 2007
On tap at the 2007 GABF: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a well-lacing light tan head. Aroma has some light caramel malty sweetness and earthy funkiness. Body starts fairly full and has a light caramel maltiness, but also has some soapiness and bitter bite along with a touch of cherries and acetone. Interesting and fairly complex, but pales in comparison to the Cable Car I tried just before.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Thorpe429 (3823) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - APR 21, 2011
Huge thanks to Sean for opening this at a recent tasting. Served in my Cantillon tulip.
Pours yields a dark brown beer with a thin light tan head that falls pretty quickly into a thin cap around the edges. The nose is one of the best aspects of this beer, bringing some oak, chocolate, mild brett, slight roast, and a touch of acid. Taste isn’t quite as complex or lively, but is still quite good. Align funk combines with roast and a decent amount of carbonation for a pretty good feel. Way, way better than 008 but not nearly as good as 004 or fresh 007. Still, I was very glad to try this. Thanks gain.

750ml bottle thanks to Sean...Medium runny mud brown. Light tan head, really nice retention of thin but nice cap. Pretty thin lacing...The aroma is oaky, malty chocolate...The taste is ok, nothing special, lots of oak on the taste and feel. Some sour vinegar notes.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 GAManiac (1906) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - NOV 19, 2010
Big thanks to Sean for this bottle, shared with the Brick Store crew.
Pours a very murky tea-like brown with a small bubbly tan head that recedes immediately to almost nothing at all. No lacing to speak of.
Aroma is an interesting mix of raspberries, brown sugar and chocolate. There is also a hefty dark fruit profile in the nose with plums and raisins and only a faint funkiness in the background.
The taste starts with a bit of chocolate covered raspberries, definitely sweet. The funk is more prominent in the taste with a dry, earthy funk finish. The backbone is still full of dark sweet fruits.
The mouthfeel is well carbonated with a tingly finish with some oak spiciness and dry funk.
This is one of the least sour of the Veritas versions and features more sweet fruits than some of the others. Very tasty and glad I got the opportunity to try it.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 hopscotch (7542) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 1, 2010
Bottle… Pours murky and brown with a small, fizzy, mushroom-colored head. Decent retention. Very rooty, wacky aroma – sassafras, sarsaparilla, licorice root, possibly subtle English lavender and a rumor of caraway. Full-bodied with chewy yeast particles and soft carbonation. The tangy flavor is a slightly dysfunctional marriage of licorice root, mysterious herbs and yeasty bitterness. The finish is simply a slow fade of all the aspects mentioned above. Certainly an interesting blend, but also a bit of a letdown when compared to all the other Veritas mergers. Kudos to Dstructo for sharing this bottle! I’m down to only one beer in the Veritas series that I have been unable to procure. Anyone have an extra Veritas 005? I didn’t think so.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 HonusWagner (796) - Florida, USA - OCT 31, 2010
The least impressive of the Veritas series, still extremely grateful to Ryan for sharing.
It’s murky and somewhat gross-looking. I could probably give it a 1. Nose is slightly acetic, sweet berries, hint of funk. Taste follows the nose, fairly pleasant overall but not great; too sweet, probably. Interesting little thing, but not something I’d pursue again.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 50belair (1036) - Florida, USA - OCT 31, 2010
Another bottled shared by Ryan at his sour tasting. The pour was mirky brown with all kinds of sediment in it. Wow, this is a weird wacky blend. I say that in the most non derogatory way. There was some muddled up dark fruit, funk, and bit of ass in this blend. I think it was actually sweaty work out ass........
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Sean9689 (192) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 11, 2010
750ml bottle.
A - Pours a dark mirky brownish red color, although not as dark as 003. Very little head, no lacing, no retention. Some bubbles here and there on top.
S - Slight sweetness, dark fruits, mellow tart/sour. Not as sour as many other Veritas versions, but I’m enjoying the nice mix of funk and dark fruits.
T - More funky then the nose suggests. Nice dark fruit, oak, tart/sour, funk, sour cherries. The mead isn’t overpowering here, it’s just there enough to lend some notes of sweetness. Very nice.
M - Medium, slight bubbly carbonation, semi-dry finish.
D - Really liked this one. Not sure how it was fresh but it’s really great-tasting at this time. Looking forward to seeing if this one keeps developing over time. Recommend.

A: The pour is a muddled brownish color that has some hints of orange/copper to it and almost no head.
S: The nose is sweet and quite fruity. Notes of plums, raisins, figs, and perhaps some cherry in there somewhere. The fruits work well with the slight tartness that is there, and the mead provides an interesting balance.
T: The flavor is similarly complex with perhaps a touch more of the sour coming through. Slightly lemony with the raisins and plums being the most notable fruits. Good malt and mead/honey-like sweetness once again.
M: The body is medium with a sort of soft carbonation to it.
D: This is really a unique beer. I had heard this one wasn’t doing so well, and perhaps it is past its prime, but I still found this to be quite an enjoyable drinking experience.

Very big thanks to Maltzilla for this bottle. Pours dark brown, small head. Fruity-sourish aroma. Starts sourish-malty, fruity, notes of raisins and plums and other dark fruity. A bit rusty-prickly. Finish more sourish, still not too much. Warming aftertaste. May be past its prime, but still a very enjoyable beer!

brownish pour, small head. Aroma is quite the experience. Tart but funky sweet. I can smell the mead and the dark fruits. Funky aroma is present, but not overpowering. Flavor is lightly tart leading to a very fruity and honey like mid palette. Finish is fruity as hell, lightly tart, malty...overall delicious. Major props to the Tampa crew for this one.
