(bottle shared by tytoanderso, thanks Tyler!) Pours a hazy light yellow with a white head. The aroma has a lot of manure, must, wet hay, oak, and some tart peach skin as well. The taste seems to be more gueuze-like, with lemon peel, mineral water, peach skin, damp wood, and ample funk. The finish lingers with an unexpected subtle sweetness that wins out over the acidic and oak flavors, and I believe it is peach. This is a well done sour.

Pours a pure gold. Banana, must and funk, white pit fruits, and a healthy degree of dirtiness/farm/excrement in the aroma. A bit of hard water and minerals. Surprisingly, the bright sweetness and the tanginess of the stone fruit is right out in front to me. A mite of vanilla as an afterthought.

Bursting brightly with sharp fruit acids and sauvignon blanc gravelly funk. It’s a simple picture of gueuze-like qualities. Not much for dark malts or cherries or anything cuvee-like; even the color doesn’t show much darkness. It’s really sprightly and joyful in its sourness, like it’s celebrating spring with wildflowers, citrus fruits and natural earthy textures in fresh air. Blue cheese. Sunniness.

A lively palate, fresh and hearty. Surprisingly clean, for the most part. Finish doesn’t linger on funk to much but more on fruit and acidity. Not outstandingly memorable, but certainly fantastic. Thanks Tyler!

750ml bottle poured into the requisite Lost Abbey snifter (thanks Will)! Tart, minerally, gravelly aroma. Wet dog. Some sulfur. Musty fruit skin (peaches I’m guessing)? Definitely musty and funky... but slightly lacking in the aroma department. Pours a bright, hazed gold. Thick like sunshine and wet dandelion with a bright white head. Flavor is absolutely amazing... Wonderfully tart and acidic. Plenty of rotting peach funk. There can’t be much of any CdT in here. Cheesy funk. Some wet dog. Gravels, minerals and sulfur. Lemon zest. Wet earth. Totally full bodied for the style. Spritzy and alive carbonation. Full mouthfeel. Wonderfully long, crisp, zesty and acidic finish.

A truly wonderful blend of beers. Although the aroma is lacking, the flavor more than makes up for it. World class and truly deserving of it’s top 50 status. Rusty... I can’t thank you enough for this rare treat and only home that my box can compete with your insane generosity!

Nose is a tad sour, reminds me of the yellow bus with a tad bit more sour to it. The flavour is quite fantastic. Really fantastic. Sour, peach, subtle flavours. This is quite complex. Cherry sweetness, some sour, good carbonation. Quite tasty.

First sampled fresh at the barrel tasting night and bottle release at Lost Abbey. Later shared from the bottle with friends at bockyhorsey’s. Second time around, far better from the bottle than fresh. Pours a very nice golden pils color. Aroma is of a very clean and beautiful sour, as well as some minor alcohol. Taste is way better than fresh. Quite carbonated with a nice complex sour palate. Very cleansing, doesn’t dry out your mouth. Actually quite a full mouthfeel for a sour. Reminds me of a not-so-hardcore Isabelle Proximus. Very nice.

750, corked and baled. Thanks, BVC! Wicked label, makes you feel like you’re drinking something important. Pours a murky but fairly bright caramelly yellow. Very little film or lace, but what’s there sticks around. Big lemon nose, along with some poop, and bits of sour fruit happening there. Creamy medium body with some tart soft fizz. Tangy peaches and lemons on the mid-palate, along with a hint of mineral dry. Not a lot of funk showing. Mild sour fruity finish.

bottle from rusty or the goat... memory evades me... at the bockyhorseys...

hazy golden color (darker than the cdc sitting next to it!) with a soft white head and lasting ring of foam. surprising amount of spotty lacing. the nose is quite malty and sweet with notes of cinnamon, cement-y brett stink, lemon and some cheese-y cdt funk. the amount of maltiness on the palate gives the impression of balance and really calms the sour... flavors include lemon, malt, some wood and yeast with the sourness hitting late in the finish. brett’s at the party but in moderation and lends a refreshing dryness. the body is surprisingly thick and coating with a rich slick mouth feel. delicioso... 8/4/8/5/18/4.3

Bottle generously shared by jarspag with Maheu and myself at the epic tasting during the January ’09 ski trip in Mammoth, CA. Backlogged rating. Another killer brew in the Veritas series. Probably my favorite so far. Cloudy straw yellow color with a fine white ring of lace. Awesome nose of zesty lemon citrus, biscuit, funky wet hay and wild yeasts. Really a pleasure to smell. Flavor is complex as can be, with all the right nuances of peach, apricot, lemon rind and oak wood. Yellow bus cultures are noticeable throughout, with the super-dry and earthy tones of gueuze hanging forever on the finish. Perfectly soothing palate with soft carbonation. An awesome creation. I’ll be stoked to see how this one ages. Will re-rate in a year or so.
