1.6 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Big thanks?!?!?!? to one of my regulars for this...Gusher beer, pours a light apricot gold, a white head with decent retention, forms a small cap. Ok lacing...The aroma is so bad, it almost makes me gag, no exaggeration. A mixture of throw-up with a medicinal quality, like you just puked what you took to give over your cold. Chammomile tea mixed in. Its so horrible, I’m extremely hesitant to try it...The taste is bad, but thankfully its not as horrible bad as the aroma or I probably would have thrown up. Its oddly sweet, lots of tea and lemon flavors. I’m so repulsed every time I bring it to my mouth to drink I get a whiff of the aroma, and I stop myself. I hate being this harsh, but I can’t say enough how bad this is.
Supposedly, Tomme pushing the boundaries here, but they were pushed to far. This is an utter fail and should not be tried unless your sadistic or as part of a vertical. Thank god Thorpe had this before and was able to confirm this wasn’t a bad bottle.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. An unclear yellow beer with a thin white head. The aroma has notes of brettanomyces, straw, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of lemon, brettanomyces, malt, and herbs, leading to a tart finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of gn0sis. Pours a cloudy yellow with a dense and frothy white head leaving laces. Extremely dry and tart aroma - still fruity though. Fairly light body, a slow gusher, a little underlying sweet fruitiness - exotic fruitiness - yet dry and very tart with subdued Brett and barnyard. Ends very tart. Another fascinating Lost Abbey blend - wauw. 290311

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Hazy yellow/orange color, bit white frothy head. Aroma has many characteristics of a geuze. Very fresh and with lovely brett-sidenotes. Lots of sourness, sour berries, lemon peel and herbs. Taste has brett, lots of mild sourness, lemon, tea, herbs and sugar. Sourness trails along after a mild sugary intro. Not very smooth, but very complex. Quite strong/potent. Long and weird finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Sample at NOTB 2011
Appearance : Hazy oale yellow with a small head.
Aroma : Great lemony notes with some malty. Citrusy and herbal notes. light cough syrup.
Taste : Lemon and citrusy with some herbal notes. A bit grassy. Great tartness on the finish with nice herbal notes.
Overall : Really nice stuff. A bit unusual for a sour but I think tea give it a really nice touch. Very well balanced, nice tartness, not very sour. Great grassy and herbal notes. Very drinkable sour. I’d be happy to try this one again.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: cloudy with dregs. Bottle is a slow bubbler but not a full-blown gusher. Thicker along the edges with bubbles and whipped foam. Cloudy orange with a soft glow.
Nose: soured, funked, woody, and dry leather. Lemon and white grapefruit. Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio grapes, skins especially. More must, leather, and now with some oak. Tannic.
Palate: zazow! And yum! Parched puckered mouth is instantaneous. Lemon ice – the real deal too, homemade without any sugar. Lemon and white grapefruits freshly sliced and peeled, leaving behind the inner meat and pith. Raw fresh leather, dust, white oak shavings. Grabs back sides of cheeks and doesn’t let go. Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio in the middle, oaked please. Titillating tannic dryness – skins, woods, leather.
Final Thoughts: as expected, this beer did not disappoint. I am a self-proclaimed fanatic for these kinds of beers. A true delight.
