750mL shared by McBerko. Completely flat, looks like old coffee. The beer is basically raisiny sour beer. That would all be fine if it weren’t completely flat. It’s a nice mix of the 2 elements with a hint of soy sauce at the end of the flavor.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 mL bottle generously shared by mcberko. Thanks! Pours black with no head. Heavy dark fruit and syrupy aroma. Flavor is a raisin bomb, with dark fruits, cherry, and brown sugar. A little offputting at first, but quickly grew on me m. Finishes worth sour dark fruit and more raisin. Overall, an enjoyable beer. Hope to find more of versions of this beer soon.

Big thanks to mcberko for sharing this tonight. Nearly headless pour; lovely clear deep ruby, dark brown in color. Aroma: molasses, dark fruit, brown sugar and plums. Soy sauce and raisins. Light nail polish. Tastes super rare. Sweet, raisiny, hints of chocolate, tobacco, leather. Some vinegar tartness. There’s an oddness to this I can’t quite place, but I like this. Nobody else at this table so far agrees, but it turns out I like sweet and sour dark balsamic vinegar beers -- sucks to be you guys :). Full body, slick oily syrupy texture, light carbonation. Overall: wonder what this would have been like years ago, but I still dig this.

750mL bottle, pours a dark mahogany with a tiny head. Nose brings out very sour dark fruits, oak and medicinal notes - weird. Flavour is acetic as hell, with cough syrup, acetic notes, and tart fruits. Lots of things wrong with this. Acetic, vinegary and medicinal. Not good.

2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle thanks to tectactoe for sharing. Dark brown pour with no head. Aroma is sour berries, soy, chocolate, and red wine. Taste has a moderate to strong sourness. Lots of soy sauce and orange juice, some leather, light chocolate. Very acidic. Very hard to drink and I hate the taste. Couldn’t even finish my 3 oz sample.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle: Oily, squid’s ink black with no head, almost no visible carbonation. Aroma of cherry skin, balsamic vinegar, roast, faint acetone, burnt caramel, very faint licorice, molasses, some sweet-tart sourness. Flavor is heavily sour. Sour cherries dipped in vinegar, light roasted malt & coffee bean, huge lactic sourness, soaked wood, lemon flesh, a bit of acetone in the finish, quite acidic & puckering. Dry finish. This isn’t great.

Thanks Toby for letting me try this. Idk if it’s past it’s age or not, but this was not good. Tasted like smoke with some sourness, and very hard to finish my pour.

1.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Bottle opened up at the 2014 Ottawa End of Year Gathering. Wow - I just didn’t get this one, and apparently had some different opinions from everyone else around the table. Dark pour that combined raisin, turpentine, cherries, oak and booze with a balsamic vinegar undertone. This was epically bad for me...to each their own I guess.

Pours dark brown with very little carbonation. Aroma is vinegar and sweetness from the bourbon barrels. Taste is smooth, nice tartness that is more vinegar, smoke and sweetness from the bourbon. I was expecting a little more.
