4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
At cellar temperature and into a chalice. Heavy sediment settles swiftly. The body black as black. Head lights up off the pour to settle a dense quarter inch with little lace but good legs. Dry, dusty, topsoil earthiness to the aroma with nuances of fresh strapped leather, molasses, burnt toffee and lightly roasted coffee bean. Quite smooth, bold, big, voluptuous and silky, velvety. Bitter coffee and chocolate malt finish. Earthy, malt dominated palate with light spice in back. Light smoke, burnt wood linger is long matched by dusty chocolate. Absolutely balanced to the nines, Holds all the qualms of a solid stout. Plump, and rounded. Beautiful!! (12fl.Oz, No date stamp, Int’l Beer Shop, Leederville)

Bevuta sia alla spina che in bottiglia. Il colore è marrone con una meravigliosa schiuma capuccino. Il profumo è di caffe’ e miele. L’aroma è caffè, cioccolato. Corpo medio. Buona Buona

Bottle poured into tulip. Opaque black, roasty nose, tan head, full body. Roasted malt flavor is enjoyable though simple. The malty finish lasts a while. More grainy than sweet to my palate, good stuff.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown with a quickly dissipating head. Classic oatmeal flavours with silky mouth feel. Hints of chocolate and malt. No sign of the promised "heavy hops" which may have balanced some of the sweetness. Has a slightly sickly sweet finish like a milk stout but overall really nice to drink.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
BOD 2/18/14. Pours pitch black. Outstanding head volume and retention, world class lacing.
Typical nose of chocolate and roast.
Medium body with a smooth texture that has some slickness. Slightly above normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a nice prickly burst in the finish.
The flavor profile is moderately intense, not complex but is well balanced. It is a mild roast and chocolate blend from start through the finish. The middle brings a mild bitterness coupled with a mild malt sweetness. The finish is a slow fade of roast and chocolate. A good stout.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle enjoyed on vacation with my sister and brother-in-law in California. The pour is a medium black with a little lighter brown notes poking around the edges and a little lighter khaki colored ring of head. The aroma is full of roasted malts and medium chocolate. There is a good lactose sweetness happening here as well. Not a whole lot else happening. The flavor is surprisingly sweet. There is a good chocolate and lactose there, but it's a basic milk stout in my honest opinion. The mouth feel is light and the aftertaste is lingeringly sweet and malty. Pretty decent.
