4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: silky black pour into a pint, with thick, creamy, medium tan head and decent lacing. Aroma: swiss coffee, roast espresso beans, chocolate pudding, hint of smoke. Taste: bittersweet dark chocolate, roast coffee, dry, herbal hops, hint of wet granite. Finish: smooth and slightly dry, with lingering roasty/sweet chocolate. Notes: A very, very good sweet stout. Reminded me of a cross between Bell’s Double Cream Stout and Schlafly’s Irish Stout, both of which are outstanding. Beerdvent 2013, day 16.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle from the LCBO, served in a stem glass. Pours black with a moderate tan head that fades slowly to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has loads of roasted malts, along with coffee, tobacco, subtle smoke and big earthy, herbal hops. The flavour is modestly sweet throughout, with big roasted malt notes, coffee, caramel and balancing hops that pick up towards the end and culminate in a long hoppy finish with big roasted malts. On the palate it is medium in body with a dry texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a decent stout, but the body was disproportionately light and failed to match the punch of the roasted malts. 2013-12-18

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
More roasty flavor than I expected for this type of beer. Earthy coffee and dark chocolate dominate. However, it is a touch thin and overcarbonated. This beer starts out very promising but has virtually no finish, the flavor just abruptly ends. If it had more sustain, I would score this a lot higher.

1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle date: unk
A: black, a finger of light mocha foam falls to islands of the same. Spotty lace.
S: Roasted malts, hints of tobacco and vinyl. Some coffee tones, but nothing to call home about.
T: Roasty, some oat tones, some raisin and some leather.
M: Thin for the style with WAY too high carb. Semi dry finish.
O: This is a poor example of an oatmeal stout IMO, much less a stout. Too chemical, too thin, too much carb, little on the nose worth desiring.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Aroma - Cool scents from the high carbonation. Soft notes of malts. The aroma here shows off the under currant of flavor we’ll find once we taste the beer.
Appearance - A dark, dark brown color. Not a huge head, but dissipates a few sips in.
Taste - Gorgeous. Roasted malts, dark chocolates, medium roasted coffee beans, and dark caramels. The carbonation element is still present throughout the whole tasting.
Palate - Very balanced. Nothing is going to stand out from the others. I appreciate beers which aren’t very heavy handed with one kind of flavor.
Overall- An amazing stout with high flavors and with a low stout delivery due to the carbonation. Amazing beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark brown with a garnet hue and a tan head that fades fast to a coating. Aroma is sweet roast malt, toffee and coffee. Taste follows and adds some nuttiness and mild chocolate and closes with a touch of hoppy bitterness. A little bit thin, but wait for her to warm up and she shines. A nice stout and a price performer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep mahogany brown with a short lived tan head. The aroma is lightly roasty, some light anise, and coca-cola, cupboard, touches of vanilla and chocolate. The flavour is lightly sweet, coffee, chocolate, with a sprinkling of hops that mix and trail into the finish. Solid, drinkable, but I find it a touch thin, especially in the mouth feel department.

650 ml bottle from LCBO. If Guinness and St. Ambroise Imperial Russian Stout had an offspring, this might be it. Really enjoyed this, love the mouth feel, love the sweet chocolate notes, and the hint of coffee bitterness. Nice balance and great dark stout look. Will get more!
