3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
(650mL bottle from LCBO) Pours a very dark brown with a decent-sized frothy tan head, lingered long with a bit of lace. Aroma roasted malts, sweet chocolate beneath, some hop character, slightly earthy - decent nose. Flavour is sweet creamy chocolate, light roast, slight fruity/earthy hop taste to start. Fades into a light roast coffee, dry, some earthy hop/roast bite on the finish, bit of chocolate lingers as well. Quite light flavour overall, weak finish. Mouthfeel light, somewhat watery, low carb. Not bad but disappointing, a decent stout but a little light and insubstantial, not really creamy nor hefty, flavours not particularly concentrated.

Pours pipeline oil spill black with a thin brown cap. Taste is rich licorce , dark roast coffee & cold water. A little softer than I was expecting. Would make a good gateway beer for those not into the stout.

Sempre soddisfacente, peccato che la birra precedente mi aveva rallentato le papille gustative...

Bottle about 450 yen from Sugaya, 5.5% a coca-cola pour that looks black in the glass with reddish brown accents along the edges & a beige head. The aroma is mild chocolate & hints of roast coffee. The taste is sweet, sugary chocolate malts with some roastiness in the finish. A decent enough stout. Possibly it doesn’t travel that well & would be better in the US based on the ratings here...

Bottle, seen this around for years .. . Pours a mild brown black .. Light head, almost no foam .. . Not much going on here, but nothing inherently bad, just mild
.. . . Take a hike, bozo!
