COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not for the faint hearted! Our stout rewards the palate with robust flavor of roasted malts (malts are roasted like coffee beans) and heavy hops. A creamy smooth surprise.

Nice and consistent roasty-flavored stout. Good aftertaste and maltiness. Good all around stout.

A very nice, sweetish stout. Loads of chocolate, light roasted coffee, nuts and roasted malts in the aroma. Body is quite thick and the flavor profile is very rich. Again, loads of sweet and dark chocolates, light roasted coffee cream, and plenty of other stuff I really can’t point to. Hops play a supporting role, but balance the sweetness well when combined with roasted malt and the coffee. Deep black color with a medium-sized brown head that faded quickly. Very well made.

Very dark beer, but not so black that I can’t see tan bits of sediment floating in it. Coffee scent and taste. Suprisingly smooth for a stout. Taste more of chocolate as it warms. Chocolate lingers afterwards. Nice beer.

Just like I like’em...dry. This beer has a wonderful coffee aroma with hints of cocoa, while the flavor is similar, it adds a slightly delightful tangy taste found in most dry stouts (just a hint though). However, category in which I thought this beer lacked a little was in appearance. I thought that the color was a little too light (a little too brown and not black; good for a porter but not quite a stout), and also thought that the belgium lace was a little week (it didn’t carry that strong sheet of lace found in many good stouts). Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed this beer and would have it again.

This beer starts off with a big foamy head, frothing with boiling bubbles that segue into a nice mini bubble carpet. A little bit of espresso fumes, not too strong, along with a whiff of tart. Yes, tart. This is a nice coffee beginning with a subtle tart sour finish. A very tricky smooth blend between the dark roasted malty flavor and a smooth little bitter twang at the end. It is mostly magnificently easy going down.

An amazing beer with a roasty almost burnt flavor that goes down as smooth as any stout I’ve had. Doesn’t get much better.

a nice strong stout. very dark near opaque color, beautiful thick capuccino froth head. lots of coffee , dark chocolate, pecans and toasty maly flavors. subtle sweetness complements the strong flavors.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2004 A very nice stout, and one that I would reccommend to others. This brewery seems to make decent brew no matter what style they attack.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2004 First of all, this beer pours out of the bottle black black black...and thick. Nice light brown head...medium carbonation. At first, the aroma is filled with some wonderful smokey roasted tones. As it warmed, the aroma lost most of it's smokiness and took on more of a sweet chocolate character. The flavor changed much like the aroma did...from smokey and roasted to sweet chocolate. Slight bitterness in the finish, but none elsewhere in the flavor. This is a well-crafted stout with many complexities that unfold throughout the drinking experience. I enjoy taking my time drinking this beer to appreciate all it has to offer.

Head is initially small, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing. Body is absolutely opaque black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, dark chocolate), with notes of tar, ash, and smoke. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly astringent. Not an especially enjoyable stout...the aroma has a slight resemblance to an ashtray, and the flavor is quite acidic.
