4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Super solid stout from Lost Cost. Wonderful malts, hints of chocolate and an smoky flavored back end. One of the best out there. Try it!

3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Starts with a nice roasted malt and coffee flavor. Vanilla notes in this one as well. Leaves you with a nice bitter coffee finish. Smells like roasted malt. Had out of a bottle at home.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
355 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in New Town Plaza, Shatin.
Looks: Translucent deep blackish brown colour with thin traces of yeast sediments; One-quarter finger head and dark beige foam which fades in 20 seconds. Excellent sticky lacing with no carbonation.
Aroma: Fragrant roasted malt, with light coffee beans, strong dark chocolate, toffee, caramel, light cream, sugar, very light raisins, thin lemon and grass.
Taste: Mid to light sweet, strongly-roasted malt, with dark chocolate, strong caramel, toffee, light black coffee, fairly light cream, molasses notes, dark fruits notes, earth, yeast, lemon, moderate bitter hops and grass.
Body: Mid to light; Fairly slick and slightly creamy palate.
Mouth Feel: Solid malty base with very good roastyness. Oat’s influence isn’t that strong - some slickness and slight creaminess but certainly not as pronounced as those typical oatmeal stouts. Very strong dark chocolate accompanied by caramel, with rather low coffee to the tongue (a bit surprised). Lightly creamed and moderate sweetness. Quite alright but it’s a bit lacking.
Hoppiness: Fresh light lemon and good grass in nose and taste. Bitterness is moderate to high, pleasant enough for a lasting, lightly astringent finish.
After Taste: Slightly dry. Roasty and chocolately bitter to mouth.
Comments: This one is certainly better than most watery, so-called “Stouts” done by many pretentious craft brewers, but as an oatmeal stout, the oat factor is a bit underwhelming which shows in low smoothness and rather moderate bitterness. Lack of coffee taste is also a surprise but otherwise everything else is quite well-covered, especially the dark chocolate aroma and taste. A joy to drink, and a couple of steps away from being top.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

12 ounce bottle pours a very dark brown nearly black with a twinge of red. Tan head dissipates quickly very nice aromas of dark chocolate. Nice highly viscous mouth feel. Very full-bodied. Nice chocolate flavor balanced out by some hop bitterness and some residual sweetness. Excellent milk stout.

Backlog rating. Keg at FOB, Rimini. It pours a dark brown color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is roasty, with notes of toasted bread, espresso, pine cones, lactose. Taste is medium sweet with more lactose, chocolate, roasted malts. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, average

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Citysuper at home. Dark dark brown-not quite black pour. Big frothy head. Lots of lacing. Aroma is roasted, oatmeal, slight bitterness. Taste is similar - not that big but not lacking in flavor. Very straightforward roasted stout with oatmeal-y smoothness. Very smooth - malty and oatmeal. Lasting bitterness and unexpected richness. Not too exciting but very solid stout.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
My palate was rewarded with this beauty. Pours a murky black with a small lighter than usual head. Aroma is of roasted malts, milk chocolate, and brown sugar. Tastes of roasted malts, nuts, chocolate, and sugar sweetness. Has a great coffee taste near the finish. Has more of a porter body, but I won’t complain. Surprisingly this is one stout that isn’t too filling.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black beauty came to me today in the form of this Stout. And what a fine Stout it be. Almost as black as can be save for some dark rust highlights on this medium tab headed brunette. A whiff yields up some lactose sweetness, oats, caramelised nuts, brown sugar and chocolate. The same rears it’s tasty head upon sipping (or gulping) and delivers a rounded bittersweetness with some subtle coffee pings too. A lighter than expected body, sessiony, with a body more akin to a Porter. Still, no complaints here, a great all-rounder.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From CitySuper. Pitch black with creamy but thin tan head, spotty legs. Smells of fragrant roast malt, lots of dark chocolate, coffee, hint of grassy/herbal hops. Tastes of roasted malt, medium bitterness, medium+ astringency. Body is very smooth, thin but creamy, very soft carbonation, bitter and slightly acidic finish. An excellent (esp. in aroma and palate) stout, incredibly well balanced.
