3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep mahogany brown with a short lived tan head. The aroma is lightly roasty, some light anise, and coca-cola, cupboard, touches of vanilla and chocolate. The flavour is lightly sweet, coffee, chocolate, with a sprinkling of hops that mix and trail into the finish. Solid, drinkable, but I find it a touch thin, especially in the mouth feel department.

650 ml bottle from LCBO. If Guinness and St. Ambroise Imperial Russian Stout had an offspring, this might be it. Really enjoyed this, love the mouth feel, love the sweet chocolate notes, and the hint of coffee bitterness. Nice balance and great dark stout look. Will get more!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
8 oz. on draught at Beer Revolution in #yeg. 5.9%. Dark brown pour with a weak off white head Cocoa and vanilla on the nose, and big coffee earthy malt notes. Taste is very rich in coffee and chocolate, with a hoppier and drier than expected finish. Balance came apart for me in this, mild sweetness in the malt complicated by hoppy overtones. Maybe comes in like a wounded duck after the Ommegang stout I drank before it, however. Will re-rate if found.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Purchased in a big bottle at LCBO. Not to overpowering in taste, not to much dark chocolate taste which is what I prefer in a stout. Enjoyable, tasty. I liked it.

Bottle. A big, thick and chewy drinker, absolutely wonderful. Bountiful choco character, makes me crave some coca puffs. Definitely a beer I’d stock more of. (#5333, 11/11/2013)

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 14, 2013 Bottle - pours a dark clear brown with ruby highlights....thick 3 finger mocha cap lasts and laces. Aroma is rather demure but the roasty cocoa/coffee tones are there. Flavour is rather relaxed for a big stout but very tasty - lots of roasty flavour, hops in tow...clean balanced finish, light hoppy end. Very drinkable ...about what you’d like in a draught sessioning stout...however, for my tastes a tad thin and tame.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours black with a substantial, fine head that leaves lots of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, a bit of toast. Taste is smooth and sweet up front, light carbonation, medium-full body with chocolate milk and slight coffee notes in the finish. Smooooooooth. Really, really good.
