3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nice amber body with a beige head that leaves a decent amount of lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel, brown sugar, and malt with just a touch of hoppiness. A bit thin on the palate and slightly oily. The flavor fairly mimics the aroma. Sweet and smooth. Caramel and corn. There’s a hint of citric hops in the back that doesn’t quite make an appearance. A very drinkable beer that doesn’t have a lot of personality.

Clear amber pour with a creamy off white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is caramel, malt, some light nuts. Taste is malty, caramel, with a mild sweetness, and slight hop presence. Reminds me of a caramel chew. Body is medium, with soft carbonation. Balanced easy drinker.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is mild citrus hopping and very mild caramel. Appearance is copper clear with medium off white frothy head. Taste is caramel and light citrus hopping aroma followed by a clean hop bitterness and a tiny hint of chocolate. Palate is medium light and crisp. Overall a refreshing beer. Not too unique but well brewed and a great drinker. Enough flavor to be good but light enough to be very sessionable. Chocolate flavor hiding in the background adds a little depth.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
5%ABV. Amber Ale.
Tapped out a deep amber. 16ºSRM.
Nose has some sweet malty aroma. A hint of beery with some wet yeast.
Mouthfeel is sudsy. There is a rich palate of dark malt flavor with nutty richness suggesting Brazil nuts and walnuts, there are toffee, caramel and some butterscotch-like flavors at play as well. Very ful-bodied on the first go. Very impressive. Nice round body on the palate briefly suggesting stewed fruit.
Finish is clean.
I liked it on a very personal level and not in a way that is quantifiable, It makes the List for nebulous reasons. Just like you love that mangy, stringy, foul-tempered feline for no real good reason, Lost Coast’s brew effort grows on you for no really good reason. You just love it.
Food pairing: coffee pork ribs.
