fredandboboflo (264), East Setauket, New York, USA May 7, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of floral hops, semi-sweet, (almost tropical) fruity malt. Flavor fruity, but not sweet. Very refreshing and full bodied, at least for the style. All the fruitiness remained nice and dry. I feel this could compete with very well respected pale ales...and kick their asses.
StFun (257), Indiana, USA Jul 7, 2008 Fairly good session Amber, and a good intro to the style. A little thin on the palate, but the malt, carmels, and hops come through in the flavor, with the malt taking the lead role. I liked that the label is a nod to the Garbage Pail Kids of the 80s, but that’s really my biggest compliment to this one. Tastes fine and is drinkable. Nothing wrong here. BeerBelcher (694), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jun 29, 2008 The "amber ale" style is usually a pretty boring one, if the beer was more exciting it’d be a pale ale or some other style. However, this beer did not disappoint; I found it to be pretty interesting.
It had a gold-amber color which was clear but not brilliant. Head was plentiful and laced. Aroma was hoppy with a bit of DMS (canned corn) aroma. Flavor was also hoppy with some maltiness anda noticeable amount of butteriness (diacetyl?). Mouthfeel was appropriate. All-in-all, pretty good.
I would recommend this beer. I bought this bottle at 3 Cellars in Franklin, WI. dalepryor (145), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA Jun 28, 2008 Copper pour with an off white head, i get mostly hops from the aroma, the flavor is more malts than hops but a nice balance between the two, this is a nice amber ale definitely one of the better ones i’ve had. FLnative80 (168), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 21, 2008 Bottle. 12 fl. oz. A dark amber color with light tan head. Nice lacing. Hoppy nose. Medium body with a fairly soft texture. Flavor is sweet caramel malt with a dry, hoppy end. Not bad, just pretty typical. Farfrompüken (3), San Diego, California, USA does not count Jun 16, 2008 clear copper amber body w/off white frothy head. Aroma of caramel and sweet molasses(brown sugar). Taste was well balanced with roasted caramel malts and bitter finish. Decent amber session beer, easy drinking but a little watery.
