Deep brown pour with a thick white head. A bit of light spiciness and a touch of herbal hoppiness as well. There is a kiss of hoppy spice on the back along with a soft sweet maltiness. Simple, but decent.

Another lineupís brown. And just another beer. Nice head, deep brown body. Licorice and malt, including chocolate. Not overly sweet. Offset by some roastiness.Nicely hopped. Grainy. Light instant coffee. Medium mouthfeel. Nicely drinkable at Pizza Plant Transit.

Tap at Yard House in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Pours a clear, deep amber. Weak foam. Nose is sweet chocolate, maple, vegetal/DMS. Taste is sweet and sticky with hazelnut, maple, brown sugar. Suddy, dry finish. Eh.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2012 Sweet chocolate and sugar aroma (think chocolate cereal) with some lighter British malts and a bit of hops. Very sweet and rich, with a slightly-sharp hop and sugar feel, with the sugars really making a showing in the finish. Overall it just displays a very nice chocolate coffee flavor. Not the typical brown ale (not one of my big styles), but one of the better ones Iíve tried.

Bottle. Pours with a copper-brown colored body and an off-white head. Aromas are nutty, caramel, oats, brown sugar, a touch of earthy/spicy hops and hazelnut. Flavors are sweet, caramel, nuts, oats, brown sugar and a touch of smoke (almost a phenolic smoke). Medium bubbles, some residuals, dryish, very light warmth. A touch thin.

Thank you to DrunkAsASkunk for this one. Pours deep dark brown, with a medium off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma of malt, corn flakes, almonds, cabernet, hops, and slight prunes. Tastes malty, with hints of brown sugar, toffee, almonds, caramel, and slight Coca-cola. Nice, smooth medium-bodied finish. I havenít had a bad California beer yet.

2008-12-06. Dark brown body with a modest off-white head. (3+) Sweetish malt, light tangy character to the flavour. (6+) Sweet malt aroma, light caramel and dusty malt accents. Average palate. Meh. On tap at Coles, Buffalo

From Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA. Pours a dark brown color with a medium thick and foamy light brown head. Minimal head retention and lacing. Aroma is alternatingly malty and nutty. Sweet roasted malt and caramel flavors. Finish is pretty weak and was not sustained throughout the glass. I found myself uninterested by the end. Still it starts out pretty well so that is worth something.
