A smooth, full-bodied nut brown ale, lightly hopped with a hint of roasted and crystal malts. This ale is dark in color without the heavy taste of porter or stout.

Bottle - Light roasted coffee and milk chocolate on the nose. Clear dark brown no head to speak of. Mellow smooth chocolate and a bit nutty. Little bitterness, so if you are a dark chocolate fan this may be underwhelming, but as I like milk chocolate it works for me. Not quite a stout or porter, light mouth feel, but has almost the strength in flavor. A great refreshing flavorful beer without the heaviness.

Tap at Yard House in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Pours a clear, deep amber. Weak foam. Nose is sweet chocolate, maple, vegetal/DMS. Taste is sweet and sticky with hazelnut, maple, brown sugar. Suddy, dry finish. Eh.

2008-12-06. Dark brown body with a modest off-white head. (3+) Sweetish malt, light tangy character to the flavour. (6+) Sweet malt aroma, light caramel and dusty malt accents. Average palate. Meh. On tap at Coles, Buffalo

Thank you to DrunkAsASkunk for this one. Pours deep dark brown, with a medium off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma of malt, corn flakes, almonds, cabernet, hops, and slight prunes. Tastes malty, with hints of brown sugar, toffee, almonds, caramel, and slight Coca-cola. Nice, smooth medium-bodied finish. I haven’t had a bad California beer yet.

Deep brown pour with a thick white head. A bit of light spiciness and a touch of herbal hoppiness as well. There is a kiss of hoppy spice on the back along with a soft sweet maltiness. Simple, but decent.

Bottle. Darker brown pour with a small off-white carbonation head. Nose is nutty and malty. Medium palate yet somewhat full. Taste is also malty, nutty, with a hint of chocolate. Pretty solid.

"pretty smooth, on par with Moose drool flavor-wise, but a little lighter in body, more like a Samuel Smith’s. A solid effort, but not worth going out of your way for."

Draft at Yard House. Pours a pretty much clear amber-tinted brown with a small beige head. Aroma of toasted malts, chocolate, brown sugar, and faint coffee. Flavor is the same but a tad better; sweet, malty, and toasty. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation. Solid brown ale. Nothing spectacular, just gets the job done.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2012 Sweet chocolate and sugar aroma (think chocolate cereal) with some lighter British malts and a bit of hops. Very sweet and rich, with a slightly-sharp hop and sugar feel, with the sugars really making a showing in the finish. Overall it just displays a very nice chocolate coffee flavor. Not the typical brown ale (not one of my big styles), but one of the better ones I’ve tried.
