Little head on top of an actually rather beautiful ruby red/brown beer. Aroma is very malty with a bit of roast. Flavor is not terribly impressive with chocolate being the standout. Medium-light body makes it more drinkable.

Middle of the road beer to me. Decent flavor, decent smell, decent appearance, nothing stands out but nothing detracts. Would drink again.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. The aroma is light and sweet with a hint of roast and chocolate. Palate has medium body and above average carbonation. Flavor has malt, chocolate, nuts, caramel, with the malt dominating, but all understated. Flavors quickly vanish with some light hops on the finish. Thereís nothing particularly surprising in the flavor, but this is pleasant and easy to drink.

This beer pours a translucent but very dark brown, with a bit of red in there. The head was very thin with jumping bubbles, and lasted only a few seconds. There is no lacing or lasting head whatsoever. The beer smells malty and of heavy alcohol, although I had to try to smell anything. There is almost no alcohol warmth in the taste. Iím going to say the beerís character is on the sweet side, however itís extremely well balanced, and the flavor is nice and mellow overall. Over time, the beer becomes drier. The primary flavor is of roasted malt. Carbonation is bubbly and sharp, and the beer finishes dry. This beer is affordable and easy to drink.

Pours a dark brown color and leaves an approx. 2 finger tan head. Has a malt, nutty aroma with a hint of hopps. Has a malty taste with a very slight bitterness on your palate. Overall, a very good beer.

Fairly dark for a brown ale, this beer features a slightly off-white head and a malty, caramel aroma. The taste is a bit nutty and sweet, though the beer seems a bit thinner than it should. Itís a good example of the style, flavorful enough, but not exemplary.

On draft at Goat Hill Tavern, Costa Mesa, CA. Couldnít detect any aroma. Appearance was good when first poured. Deep brown/black with a short, creamy nitro head. Head dissipated quickly but left traces of lace on the side of the glass. A nicely balanced american brown. A bit light in flavor for my taste but pleasant. Palate was a bit fizzy and thin.
