From Degarth on a trade. <P>Pours a cloudy brown with a quickly disappearing offwhite head. Iím catching light hops in the aroma, with a bit of caramel. Flavorís pretty plain, little chocolate, little sweet, little hops. Mouthfeel is good though, nicely carbonated and refreshing. Not bad.

Bottle. Poured Brown with little white head, notes of toasted caramel. finishes easy. All the right pieces, but it doesnít seem to pull them all together into something special.

A lot darker than I expected a brown ale to be, minimal head. Had a coffee finish to it, otherwise roasty. As I like stouts, this was a good thing. Itís good, but I canít really think of any kind of person to recommend this to.

Tap at the counter, santa monica. Pours brown with a khaki head. The aroma is toast, brown sugar, and a bit of pine. Taste is toasted caramel and hints of cocoa with a nice offsetting pine bitterness, which does not linger very long into the finish. very good for the style.

I used to drink this a lot when I lived in California. I took a sixer back on my most recent trip there. It still holds up. Fairly sweet and mildly fruity. Easy-drinking. I like this one a lot.

A dark cola color with a lot of creamy-tan head. Mildly hoppy aroma. Lightly flavored and a bit thin. A little charcoal bitterness and some sweet malt. Nothing special.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sweet charcoal aroma. Skunky, wet, moldy vegetation. Deep roasted malt notes.
Woodsy coffee flavor reminesent of a porter. Minor licorice notes. Gets nutty in the finish; walnuts and almonds. some fruitiness comes out as it warms.
Palate is uninspiring.
