COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, full-bodied nut brown ale, lightly hopped with a hint of roasted and crystal malts. This ale is dark in color without the heavy taste of porter or stout.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2003 I tasted hazelnut...nutella. A chocolate nutty flavor with a mild thickness. I really enjoyed this brew. I over-rated it the first time.

Very dark brown, almost black. Just a wee bit o' head. A slightly sweet aroma. Taste is a little of roasted malt. It has a good flavor but is not so overwhelming as to demand you to only drink one a night. I think this could be a grand session beer.

Bottled. This beer formed a small sized tan head that contained fine sized bubbles that fully dissipated. The body was opaque and uncarbonated with a dark brown hue. The nose was malty, roasty, caramel, sweet, and some coffee notes. The flavor was malty and caramel with a smooth and somewhat thin mouthfeel. This was a medium bodied beer with no lacing. A very drinkable and smooth beer.

Hey a nice brown ale that goes down smooth without the heavy taste of a porter or stout! Ha, good beer though. I will be buying more of this. Pours a dark maple bronze color. Aroma is of figs, walnuts, and sweet yeast! Good beer, yeah, the taste is nice on a summer day too.

Like the guy on the label this beer has a magic effect (and tastes good)! Where can I get it in Novato or San Rafael?

Hazy dark amber, thin beige head, medium body, medium-high carbonation.

Aroma: chocolate malt, citrus hops.

Taste: brown and chocolate malt, bright aromatic american hops.

This is exactly what i think of when i hear American Brown Ale. Balanced and easy on the palate.

Delicious and very likable beer. Sweet and malty brown. Iíve had a lot of tinny beers lately so this one was a refreshing change.

This was the beer that kicked me off as a beer reviewer. Look where I am now, 50 lbs heavier and my wallet is too. Revisited this one with a friend a couple of nights ago and was pretty impressed. Much fuller body than an English brown but still fairly easy drinking. I think we call these beers porters in England. Chocoalty and nutty while a hop presence provides excellent balance throughout. A beer Iíll definitely be recommending to anyone who orders a Newcastle.

Nutty, yeasty, sweet aroma. Moderately thick and full body with minor hints of blandness. Light nutty taste on the tongue and a generous nutty flavor lingers in your mouth like listerine after you swallow it. Possibly the darkest brown i've ever had. Peachy keen.
