A smooth, full-bodied nut brown ale, lightly hopped with a hint of roasted and crystal malts. This ale is dark in color without the heavy taste of porter or stout.

On tap at Pizza Plant. As the description says, this is one of the darkest brown ales Iíve seen, without a real heavy flavor or mouthfeel. But to be honest, it seems almost a little too lacking in substance, or body, or much of anything. I love dark brews, but I expect a lot from them, and this looks like itís trying to be a light brew in dark brew clothing. Disappointing.

Pours a deep brown color, with little head. Aroma is malty. Taste is very thin. A little sweet, definite nuttiness to it. Not the best brown ale.

Bottle from BevMo. Very dark with glints of red. No head at all. Nose is roasted nuts...thatís about it. Taste is still roasted nuts with some weak coffee mixed in. Not too bad, not great either.

Poured with no head, color a deep brown as expected. Aroma malted chocolate plus alcohol. Taste is pleasant toasty roasted malts at first, abruptly changing to watery Lipton tea-bag. Hops are barely perceptible as a backdrop of dish-soap. Alcohol very prominent as a flavor despite the beer being only 5%, perhaps due to the light hopping & lack of floral aromas. Quite creamy mouth feel, with small bubbles. I agree that this might be better as a nitro pour. As is, tastes like a weak porter needing additional floral hops.

12oz bottle from Bevmo La Mesa. Poured a deep brown with garnet highlights when held to light. Beer had a 1/4" head that receded quickly to form a nice ring around the edges. Malty/bready aroma with some caramel present. Mouth feel was light and almost watery. Taste had some roasted sweetness along with hints of chocolate and caramel.

Sweet charcoal aroma. Skunky, wet, moldy vegetation. Deep roasted malt notes. Woodsy coffee flavor reminesent of a porter. Minor licorice notes. Gets nutty in the finish; walnuts and almonds. some fruitiness comes out as it warms. Palate is uninspiring.

Dark brown, hints of red, a smooth half finger of creamy light tan head. Vegetal nuttiness, sweet caramel aroma. Taste is the same with a bad vegetal note.

On tap. Dark brown with small tan head. Roasty malt aroma continuing in the taste. Roastiness too overpowering for me.
