COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, full-bodied nut brown ale, lightly hopped with a hint of roasted and crystal malts. This ale is dark in color without the heavy taste of porter or stout.

Dark, like a schwarzbier. Roasty and a bit smoky, much like a porter. Sort of a cross b/w a porter and a brown ale - with just enough of the latter to legitimize calling it Downtown Brown, but they should consider the name Uptown Porter.

Bottle from Greenlife in Asheville, NC. Somewhat sweet but balanced. Malty, not too complex body.

Bottle. Darker brown pour with a small off-white carbonation head. Nose is nutty and malty. Medium palate yet somewhat full. Taste is also malty, nutty, with a hint of chocolate. Pretty solid.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark clean brown with fluffy khaki head. Aroma of roasty malt, nuts, caramel, and chocolate. Taste of sweet and roasted malt with a fruitiness. Very drinkable brown. Solid

Bottle. More trippy artwork from the stoners who run Lost Coast. Pour is a dark redish brown. Aromas is chocolate, roasted crystal malts, dried fig. Taste was caramel, bread yeast, mocha, just the right amount of fruity hops for this style. I really emjoy this brown for its english tasting roots. Reminds me of a newcastle on steroids with richer ingredients and even more drinkable flavor profile.

Aroma is nutty chocolate. Appearance is dark brown ruby red and clear. Medium small tan head. Taste is nutty chocolate, some malty caramel malt follows finished by a smooth roast. Minerally. Palate is medium. Has decent malty-ness but still is crisp and very drinkable. Flavors balance well. Overall a very nice beer. Rich but still crisp and drinkable. One of my favorite of the style.

Sweet, stout flavor. Not too heavy or bad aftertaste. Really good for volume drinking.

Wow. This beer has been around a long time and this is the first time to review! Pours a light brown with red notes. Good malty taste. Not much sweetness at all. A solid nutty beer as well. Quite enjoyed revisiting it.

Bottle. Great aroma of milk chocolate and almonds. Taste is in a word thin. Slight hint of the chocolate from the aroma, but taste was overall thin and a bit astringent, with grass and tartness dkminating more than it should. Started strong, but didn’t finish much like a brown.
