Lothore (226), California, USA Apr 27, 2008 Nice, fairly thick creamy head which takes a while to dissapate but leaves almost no lacing. Darker in color than I expected, very dark brown. The smell was good, sweet fruits, coffee, very slight burnt smell. Starts off thin and a bit wattery tasting, and ends decent strong leaving a lingering taste in my mouth. Taste is of coffee, burnt hops, slight sweetness however it didnt seem particularly well balanced. Mouthfeel was a little wattery, creamy, went down smooth. A fairly drinkable beer. Definitely not my favorite brown, but it would be easy to knock a few back.
llbjr77 (46), Largo, Florida, USA Jul 16, 2008 Had bottle. Has nutty, caramel taste; dark brown with less than full head. Not bad for an American brown. Will drink again! ajm (265), USA Jul 13, 2008 Real standard. Nothing sticks out to me, be it coffee, brown sugar or even malts. Just sort of there. greenleaf (78), Florida, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours deep brown mahogany with a small white head that clears quickly. Nose is toffe and chocolate, taste is similar. A very nicely rounded brown ale with a nice bite of hops characteristic of american browns. Avatar (62), Gliwice, Poland Jul 11, 2008 Bottle. Brown, of course. Roasty nutty malt. Bit of caramel, some more nuts and hint of citrus. Mouthfeel is light and bit watery in the back. I’m disapointed with palate. Aroma is quite interesting tough.
My first ’quality’ beer after coming to US :) mpersinger (15), , California, USA Jun 28, 2008 12 oz. bottle in pint glass: Root beer brown in color, poured fizzy.
Medium body, pronounced malts, minerally, tart finish.
