3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Aesir (130) - Tustin, California, USA - AUG 29, 2002
I had this beer on tap and I thought it was pretty good. My taste buds might have been in shock from all the tequilla I was drinking in between, but I’m still confident that it was a quality brew. Definitely has a sweetness to it that ends full of flavor. An interesting flavor, I think that it must be shark.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BillKismet (2762) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 6, 2002
Hazy whitish as expected with nice citrus (and possbibly coriander) notes in aroma and flavor. Light bodied--but having definition--this is an excellent witbier and would be especially suitable for stiflingly hot weather. In any case, a great refreshment.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 austinpowers (2827) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 1, 2002
This is a sharp, crisp brew that I don’t really care all that much for - it seems rather one-dimensional and thin, and is lacking in malty flavor.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MartinT (6350) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 7, 2002
Tropical fruit bubbles riding wheat waves…Swirling coriander sand…Very good Witbier…
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 VA Homebrewer (525) - Portsmouth, Virginia, USA - JUL 1, 2002
Hmmm... a Belgian wit with American pale hop qualities. Lemon, coriander and a strange astringent citric hop nose. Very intriguing. Hazy straw yellow color with a medium head that I wished was larger. Lightly malty up front fading into a crisp and hoppy finish. Intriguing, as I said before
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Schroppfy (2335) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - MAY 18, 2002
As Aubrey says, neary the pinnacle of refreshment. Seems to be a cross between and American Wheat and Belgian Wit, but I’m really just learnng these. I liked the combination of spiciness, pepperiness, and Belgian coriander tastes alot.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Aubrey (3193) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - MAY 6, 2002
Foamy-white head that lasts with a beautiful yellow-gold haze. Nearly the epitome of ’crisp and refreshing.’ While it may not exemplify its intended style, in and of itself it’s not bad. Lightly malted and peppery. Hop bitterness seemed to meld well with the tamed herbs/spices. Very clean brew.
4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 chandra99 (2) - McKinleyville, California, USA - APR 5, 2002 does not count
This is one of those beers that you like A LOT, or you do not at all. I, for one, love it. It can be used as a converter for those who like Budweiser or even the wine drinkers.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 joet (1876) - Fulton, California, USA - MAR 19, 2002
I was having a great time figuring this out -- fruity light-bodied, spicy, coriander -- until I realized they where shooting for a Belgian wheat. It tastes strong, aromatic, and colorful if you expected a typical lager but it’s too wet, pale and light bodied for a good Belgian wheat.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BeerLimey (2136) - California, USA - MAR 19, 2002
UPDATED: APR 12, 2004 I see a lot of top notch ratings for this brew but would have to say that while I completely enjoyed it would not put it so high. Orange aroma and flavor are extremely refreshing and appetzing but pretty much ovreshadow any pretence of coriander or 'secret humboldt spices'. Refreshing brew, just not up there with other Belgian Wits.
