Pale gold in color, with a thick, white head. Aroma of citrus (duh). Okay, Iím going out of my comfort zone here, as I generally donít like beers made with anything other than malted barley, hops, yeast and water. This one violates that rule in two ways: it has wheat and fruit in it. Wheat beer to me is a violation of beer morality, just as rice is (hello, Budweiser) and corn (hola, any beer from Mexico). And fruit? Hey, I love orange juice, and yes, even tangerine juice. But in beer?!! Anyways...why did I try this? Because a friend of mine says it is her favorite beer, and she has encouraged me to try it many times. So now the deed is done. The verdict? Itís actually not bad. In fact, it is a rather refreshing malted beverage. But I donít think I would drink it when I wanted a beer - I would drink it when I wanted something fruity, refreshing and alcoholic.

On tap poured into a shaker. Almost everything about this beer reminds me of Orange Crush soda. The aroma is Orange Crush with a touch of wheat. A soda-like effervescence permeates through the hazy orange body. The dish-soap water head leaves behind no lace. A light grainy bitterness backs the predominantly sweet (medium / medium-high). A soft, somewhat soda-like zippy, carbonation helps the light bodied, light textured beer go down very easy and quickly. The finish is dry and orangey with a sugar, orange, and wheat aftertaste that coats the palate. Itís not a terrible beer, but the Orange Crush thing really threw me for a loop, and wasnít really what I was hoping for when I ordered a beer.

Hazy orange pour, white lingering head. Aroma of wheat, citrus, orange, tangerine, grass. Taste is pretty potent...fructose and wheat. Not bad for a sweet fruit beer

Draught at The Roundhouse Taproom in Central Hong Kong. Pours a light yellow with a medium foamy white head. Smells like genuine tangerines. Not fake or rtifucially sweetened with sugar. This is a real fruit adjunct beer. Most brewers add sugar. Not here. So in other words its ok. The taste is malty and tangerine fruity and a bit soapy as these adjunct fruit beer tend to be but it still beats the full of table sugar claiming to be Belgians.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Matt! Pale straw with hints of gold & tiny white particulates floating around everywhere. Slight haze in the middle, topped with a white, foamy head. Aroma & taste are very much like an artificial orange drink... Almost like Orange Tang, but with even more of that dry, chalky, powder-y smell & taste to it. Starts off with a tart citric bite, quickly falls into an artificial & chalky orange drink mess. Gives your mouth that "just ate a vitamin" aftertaste. Still far from the worse thing Iíve had... but that doesnít mean itís good.

For a fruit beer, this is much better than rated here. Nice citrus nose, and near perfect blending of fruit and wheat /grain backbone. This would be a nice summer thirst quencher.

355 ml bottle bought at Soho Wines & Spirits in SoHo, Central.

Cloudy, hazy honey orange colour with some dirt-like yeast sediments; One finger head and crumpety off-white foam which lasts about 2 minutes; Very good sticky lacing with very little carbonation; Very fragrant sweet aroma of tangerine as soon as it was popped, with strong orange soda, sugar, light floral and light tangerine peels; Close to light sweet taste of light ale malt, with strong wheat, muted tangerine flesh and zest, orange blossoms, strong yeast, strong spices, light liquorices, lime and very herbal hops; Light body. Dry, crisp and slightly thick palate; Mouth feel is wheat ale blended with strong tangerine and orange / citrus flavours in the background. Not at all sweet not plain fruit juice, more like a well-mixed fruity wheat ale. Right-on dryness and crispness with lots of spicy herbal influence. GoodÖ Hoppiness is strong orangey floral nose, very aromatic Perleís spices and herbal taste. Good subtle liquorices in the background for some flashes of bitterness. Wheaty and fruity dry finish; Dry after taste, very crisp, fruity and herbal to mouth.

Comments: The tangerine in this brew may not be real fruits, but it works pretty well with the wheat ale for a right- on dry and crisp fruity palate. The fanta-like orange soda nose is the only minus here, everything else work out nicely. A perfect Summer thirst quencher!

Cloudy, but not cloudy enough for a wheat beer. Head came and went, no lacing. Smell is tangerines. Taste is tangerines, almost too much of it, overstated, fake. Maybe a little wheat taste, maybe because I want it to be there. Watery on the palate. Almost could be called a beer cooler from a Macro.
