A full-bodied, brown ale with a rich chocolate taste created from roasted chocolate and caramel malts. Topped with Czech Saaz hops to give it a spicy flavor and aroma.

12 ounce bottle. Mahogany color topped with a moderate creamy beige head. Faint roasted malt nose. Hints of burnt caramel and toffee. Sweet roasted malt flavor is pleasant and spicy with cocoa and cinnamon-like notes. Spruce-like hops in midtaste balance this nicely. Slightly warming though the 8% alcohol is well hidden.

More of a porter style than ale. Not my cup of tea but it has nice flavor. I would recommend this but wouldn't have this again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear dark brown with a foamy tan head. Aroma has a touch of oxidation, but the caramel and chocolate notes come through as well. The taste is dark malty and sweet. It has a slight offset with the use of hops, but not enough to materially change the malty backbone.

Aroma light coffee with a more pronounced musty wood or cork bending it into a Belgium feel. Yes that is what I would describe it as, a Belgium Brown. Funky one at that. Cocoa, caramel, creamy and rich with a bitter finish. A touch too sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Sugaya. Chocolatey nose, with dark fruit, and some light fumes. Brown, thin hed. Chocolate, light spicey fruit cake, caramel, moderate dark fruit, bit of licorice. Finish has some balance and then gentle hop tracks. Medium body, lightly warming. Very nice. Best beer I’ve had from Lost Coast.

A nice winter ale. Pours a deep black with a tan head. Smells a bit of herbs and cocoa. Taste is herbs and chocolate upfront, with a vanilla finish. Tasted at the BevMo Holiday Beer Fest.

355ml bottle. Seems like an older vintage. Oxidized, leather and earth notes. W/e.
