Guinness4Duff (464), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA Jun 14, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Aroma is just sweet caramel malt. The large amount of bittering hops in the taste really set this one apart from other brown ales, a little roasted and little spicy flavor. One of the better brown ales out there. oteyj (344), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Jun 13, 2008 Pours dark brown with residual yeast visible. Nice frothy two finger off white head. Aroma has lots of citrusy hop elements as well as some toasty malt and spice. Flavor is lots of burnt malt with caramel and chocolate peeking through as well. Palate is quite rich for the style, almost having a creamy element to it. Quite robust mouthfeel indeed- the boys at lost coast did a good job on this one- one of my favorites of the style. Butters (422), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jun 11, 2008 Pours a dark brown with tan head. Nose of cocoa. Tastes vegetal and nutty. Creamy medium body with a bittersweet finish. Got better as it warmed.
