Great taste with a perfect amount of alcohol to warm you up. Tastes like a dark and more alcoholic brown ale.

Mahogany and garnets with brown edges under a khaki head that fades into a collar. Swirls average.
Chocolate cookies and chocolate cake. Freshly baked pumpernickel bread in the back. Burnt molasses along the edges. Date cake. Generic brown spices.
Medium weight and mouthfeel. Just like the nose, chocolate cookies and chocolate cake abounds with a lightly dry finish. Date and fig cake – figs and dates in the middle, cake/cookie along the sides. Hint of plum skins. Moist chewy raisins in the middle. A bit more chocolate before that be all she wrote.
I expected less and got more and I expected more and got less. A solid brown ale but it didn’t knock my socks off even though I felt like it should have, especially when one considers the overall popular opinion on this winter seasonal. Still, the Winterbraun is a good beer and I’d happily drink of it again as should you.

Pours dark chestnut, mild head. Aroma is a bit of black pepper and caramel. Flavour is some nut, caramel. Finish has alcohol. Carbonation seems quite high, adds to the creaminess. Pretty underwhelming, nowhere near the best browns, the only thing interesting about this is the combination of sharp carbonation and creamy mouthfeel.

355ml bottle from The Beer Cellar. Caramel roasted malt aroma is very nice. Dark brown tea colour with a good sized tan head. Full flavoured with a strong body even though the beer is a bit thin in the mouth. Vanilla flavours with a rich creamy mouthfeel.

Aroma light coffee with a more pronounced musty wood or cork bending it into a Belgium feel. Yes that is what I would describe it as, a Belgium Brown. Funky one at that. Cocoa, caramel, creamy and rich with a bitter finish. A touch too sweet.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Total Wine - McLean, 3/4/13
Aroma: The nose is sweet and roasty, chocolate, caramel, some nuts, and dark fruit
Appearance: It pours a brown color with a red hue, a beige-brown head, and some mid-heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor, like the nose suggested, is pretty sweet with lots of roasted malts as well
Palate: This one is light-medium bodied, a bit sticky, and has average-plus carbonation
This is a pretty solid beer. It came off a bit too sweet for me, but it has some really nice components. This one is definitely worth trying.

12oz bottle poured into a tumbler glass.
Hazy brown color with some reddish hues and small beige head.
Aroma of brown sugar, caramel, winter cookies, soft roast and floral hops.
Sweet malty flavors, some candied nuts, low bitterness, mellow spiciness, faint dried fruits and a bit of cloying caramel.
med-full bodied, somewhat too heavy and alcoholic, but warming and OK.
