Pours a hazy amber with a slight white head. Floral and citrus hop aroma with a well-balanced hoppy flavor. Very smooth and drinkable. I’ve enjoyed every beer from Lost Rhino so far.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Elwood (1978) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - NOV 12, 2011
Serving: Draft at the brewery. It pours a hazy amber color with a small, off white head. The nose has a nice mix of citrus and pine with some underlying malt notes. The flavor has more of a malt profile than I am used to in an IPA. That’s not a bad thing either. There are nice caramel, pine, orange, and a touch of grapefruit. Medium bodied with lower carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. Pretty tasty.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jgb9348 (3497) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - OCT 15, 2011
Crisp honey golden coloured body with a slightly hazy blonde glow and a nice off-white head. Aroma of deep grassy and herbal hop notes with a little dry scents and a good complexity. Medium-bodied; Deep hoppy note of grass and herbal tastes with a nice malt backbone, a strong dry finish and a good bittering flavour. Aftertaste is fairly one-dimensional with the hops really coming through, but the malt holds steady, a nice clean and fresh character throughout. Overall, a good fresh IPA that is definitely nice to sample for the area and a good choice overall! I sampled this pint on draught at Virtue Grain & Feed in Alexandria (Old Town) for US$8 earlier in the day on 15-October-2011.

Face Plant is a pretty balanced IPA not only in grain to hop ratio but in hop selection as well. I don’t get a a single one hop flavor which in this case works.
Slightly dark amber and medium body with a clean finish.

Slightly hazy amber pour with a small head. Cask. Citrus, herbal resinous evergreen notes, and angelfood cake dough round out the nose, while the flavor emanates orangepeel, lemon juice, piney resin, and caramel malt. Palate is a tad thin with a big sappy resinous finish.

On cask at Churchkey. Amber pour with a small head. Huge grapefruit, lemon, and pine on both the nose and tongue. Lighter palate than many IPAs, but smooth and might be a good transitional beer in the style for a craft beer amateur.
