3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: near black, thick dark brown head. Aroma: roasty, chocolatey, with notes of black pepper, cherry, and - yes - wood. Taste: bitter dark chocolate, cola, roast coffee. Notes: lingering chalky dryness, nicely balanced between chocolate, wood, and coffee. Notes: Lighter in body than anticipated, but the appearance, aroma, and flavor were all spot on and true to the style. Would definitely drink again. NoVA Brewfest 2013.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aromas of smoke, soil, soy, dark roast coffee, raisins, and cherries. Black with a lasting, tan head. Dry, earthy, roasty, and savory. Medium-full body, dense and complex, yet quite refreshing.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at taproom. Pours black with a thin khaki head that leaves lacing. Has a bit of roasted moat on the nose. Definitely get the maltiness on the tongue. Has a slightly silky mouthfeel. Solid but not spectacular.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pizzeria Paradiso, Georgetown cask: Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is a wee bit of bourbon, chocolate, and a bunch of coffee. Taste is slightly sweet, with some bitterness. The aging is barely noticeable to the point that I didn’t even seek it out until I read it should have been there. It ain’t nothing against the beer though. Pretty good.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Agree with most of the posts. Taste is muted, as if the flavors are somehow held back. Not a bad beer (I have ordered it several times) but not a great beer. No "wow" factor.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Draft, dark brown, opaque with a browish tan head. Smells are ok, muted, slight coffee and chocolate, nothing impressive at all. Taste is again muted and somewhat watery...definitely lacking in the full bodied taste department... Palate, again, thin and somewhat watery. Overall, I will not drink this beer again....
