3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours opaque black, large creamy tan head, nice lacing. Aroma is coffee (perhaps a bit stale), roasted malts, cocoa, vanilla, traces of oak. Flavor is light sweet and light bitter. Medium body. This has a well developed flavor despite very little influence of the time spent in barrel. Solid.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured out of a bomber bottle. A black body with a Carmel colored full head that didn't stick around long. Rich aroma of coffee. Taste is a more chocolate based stout but has a smoky, oaky and a little bit of a cherry taste. Body is a little thin for what I expect of a stout. But this is an interesting brew

On draft at the brewpub. Black in the glass. Nutty nose with a hint of chocolate cake. Nice flavor of burnt pizza crust and more chocolate cake. Overall, a nice brew... thanks dandman629 for the recommendation!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: near black, thick dark brown head. Aroma: roasty, chocolatey, with notes of black pepper, cherry, and - yes - wood. Taste: bitter dark chocolate, cola, roast coffee. Notes: lingering chalky dryness, nicely balanced between chocolate, wood, and coffee. Notes: Lighter in body than anticipated, but the appearance, aroma, and flavor were all spot on and true to the style. Would definitely drink again. NoVA Brewfest 2013.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aromas of smoke, soil, soy, dark roast coffee, raisins, and cherries. Black with a lasting, tan head. Dry, earthy, roasty, and savory. Medium-full body, dense and complex, yet quite refreshing.
