Copper with a thin white head. Odd earthy aromas with fruity notes. Light to medium body, very little bitterness to speak of for a pale ale, really earthy and raisiny, with a chemical finish. Really didn’t like this odd beer. On tap at Soirée des Brasseurs 2011 - Shawinigan

Draft. Large creamy off-white head, hazy copper body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange/herbal, light grapefruit, bread. Taste is medium sweet, earthy/grapefruit, some lemon. Light-medium body, drinkable, light resin.

On tap at the brewpub, amber color, with a small beige head, biscuity, toasted, caramelized malt, fruity, leafy hop nose of faint dried raisins, with a soft cerealic cookie note, and with a wheaty breadiness accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a mild toasted, caramel, biscuity malt character with an earthy flowery leafy, grassy hop flavour upfront, and with some toffee, cracker, cookie dough undertones, and with a hint of dark bitter chocolate, leading towards a light malty, lingering fruity hop dry finish.

In short: A very nice hoppy and roasted fruity ale. Highly sessionable.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear ruby body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Nose is roasted and with pleasant notes of leafy and fruity hops. Taste is like a toasted fruit cake, roasted almonds, crunchy brownies, some wood. Good hops presence but nothing aggressive. Mild bitterness with a hop character that felt woody, leafy and fruity. The beer is sweet but the roastiness and hops bring a nice dry finish. Really not what I’m used to from an English Pale Ale which have usually a lot less roasted and more soft and juicy. But I’m not sure what I’d call it, so English Pale Ale it is. This a go-to beer if you want to a tasty nourishing session ale or if you want to get rid of your dotes.

A dark brown ale with a thin off white head. Surprising butterscotch aroma, like an Irish red, fruty and pleasant, but covering the hops aroma. In mouth, a good sweet malt with fruity esters and light British hops. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, May 9 2009.

On tap at Loup Rouge. The color is a dark amber with a thin beige head. The taste is of hops and vegetables. Also in the aroma and taste is sweet caramel and a bit of malt. The bitterness in this English pale ale comes close to an E.S.B.

(Rating #2075)

Pours a brown color with amber highlights and a thin white head. Pleasant aroma of burnt caramel, dark malt and hops. Good flavor of caramel, dark malt and hops, some sweetness is also present. The body is light with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation. It feels like a cross between a brown ale and a pale ale, interesting.

Objectively speaking: A relatively sharp English ale with strong carbonation and a solid hop dose.
I like: Fresh and alive. Clean and crisp (though do not expect any English smoothness, this is very effervescent). The 23 IBU hits the spot; this feels rather bitter indeed (earthy, gently mineral), and refreshing. Pleasant cerealic maltiness, even with a certain biscuity tang.
I dislike: Not much I’d change to this one, but one day, a cask would be fun.
