MartinT (4330), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 23, 2008 My Bottom Line:
This meaty and suave Rauchbier develops levelled smokiness and caramelized cereals in a soft and highly engaging vehicle.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the hazy copper.
-The chewy yet drinkable body is one of its best features.
-The flavor profile is well balanced throughout.
-The finishing smokiness could be longer (in my tastes). As is, it slowly fades out into lightly peachy fruitiness.
-Carbonation is perfectly calculated to let all flavors shine and increase drinkability.
-Herbal, earthy hoppiness timidly pet the finale.
-This has more body and less of a smoky finish than its parent brew, Trou du Diable Consumation.
On tap at the brewpub.
