COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
SRM : 15, IBU : 120, Environ 5.5 % alc./vol.

A golden amber ale with a thick super lacing off white head. In aroma, plenty of c-hops with sweet tangerine, very pungent. In mouth, a sweetish caramel with berries, good c-hops, and lichees. Oily mouthfeel. On tap at brewpub, Jan. 3 2009.

Sample on tap at Bières et saveurs (Chambly). Pours dark cloudy amber. Aroma: earthy hops and pine. Extra strong bitterness (120 IBU!), long lasting. Interesting experience, but I am not sure I would drink this one again...

On tap at the brewpub. Dark amber pour with white head. Aroma of piney hops, solid toffee-like malts and caramel. Taste is quite bitter, no sweet hop flavors, lots of caramel with a malty-bitter finish. Palate is full bodied with medium carbonation with a slightly astringent finish. Meh.

Poured a hazy orange color, small off-white head. Aroma is floral hops, citrus, grapefruit notes. Flavor is creamy, smooth floral notes, citrus, caramel malts. Wow, impressed!

Draft. Small off-white head, hazy amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, bitter, grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, bitter, some grapefruit. A bitter bomb, not much there other than the strong bitterness. Light-medium body, low carbonation.

Tap at Churchkey. Pours similar to the Fand’chienne with a towering buttermilk head atop cloudy, glowing gold. The nose is more standout IPA in the nose here compared to the Fand’chienne: American citrusy hops with sugary peach and tangy orange. Taste is grassy, nutty bitter, very clean with baked pears and sugary pear dessert coming through. Excellent.

Sampled on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy orange color with a medium creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of floral, citrus and tropical hop notes and caramel. The taste is very bitter with earthy and citrus hops, with a caramel and toasted malt finish. Medium bodied. Very nice IPA.

On tap at Les brasseurs du Temps (Gatineau, Qc). Hazy amber body with a fair white creamy head. Surprisingly, aroma is dominated by maltiness. It carries grainy and hoppy hints. Its sharp hoppy taste carries strong coriander notes and leaves a long bitter/grainy finish. Well done.

Tap at Saint-Bock. Quite extreme stuff, indeed. No wateriness in the body even with a low ABV for the pronounced hoppiness but, of course, any malt sweetness is in absolute discretion because of the intense bitterness. Well-done and aptly hopped but this not a memorable IPA to me. Not much traces of fruityness like grapefruit or tropical fruits; very herbal, leafy and dry. Enjoyable but not delightful to me.
