COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
SRM : 30.7, IBU : 27, Environ 6 % alc./vol.

Tap at Churchkey. Pours a clear, deep ruby to bistre with no head formation. Nose is unlike any other beer I have ever experienced in my life: huge iodine, mild seaweed, and (I’m not joking) Cajun crab bake. Loads of seafood and crab in the nose. Smells like a marsh. Taste is hard to get out past all of the seaweed, iodine, and crab. Palate is thin, tart, mildly bitter. One of the strangest things I’ve ever had. It might be worth finding this beer just to have a beer that smells like crab.

A deep dark stout with a thin moka head. Bitter chocolate in aroma with mineral notes. In mouth, chocolate and residual sugars, fruity esters, and black dried fruits. Medium bodied. A nice stout. On tap at brewpub, Jan. 3 2009.

(Rating #2073)

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2009 My Bottom Line :
This generous Oatmeal Stout’s endearing coffee and chocolate cake is studded with crunchy oatmeal flakes, roasted nuts, and covered in juicy blackberry purée before a poignant roasted malt and espresso bitterness takes hold of the palate.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A ½ inch of solid foam laces admirably atop the blackness.
-The aroma on this one is simply sensuous. Dessert lovers rejoice!
-The fluffy, cushiony mouthfeel is very approachable.
-Even though there is a lot going on, this remains rather easy to drink throughout.
-The fruity prevalence in the second half of the flavour profile is not predicted by the lush and sweet nose.
-Peppery spiciness seems to accompany the roastiness.
-Chocolate is mostly found in the aroma.

On tap at the brewpub.
